Rob,

Assuming you are talking about hold'em, shoot me an email and I will send you my rules/blinds schedule. I play in 2 tournies a month and host a game with 20 friends once a month.

In regards to nicknames...you don't get a nickname unless you win the tourney. It gives an extra incentive to win.

Don't forget 2 decks for each table (2 different colored decks). That way someone (the person in the big blind) can be shuffling while the current hand is being played - this helps speed the game up a lot.

A "button" of some sort to place in front of the dealer to keep everyone straight.

If you're not playing hold'em, then ignore everything except the 2 decks. LOL!

» Now then, that begs the question n2... do YOU have a nickname?

LOL! Not yet, my best finish so far has been 2nd. (Tournies range from 60-120 people.)

Damn...Mark, if you are ever in Tampa let me know, we need to play!:-D

BTW, my nickname is "The Banker", given to me by the crew I normally play with.

If playing hold'em, and if everyone isn't familiar with the game, I would also suggest having two people who DO know how the game is played and how the deal goes to sit opposite of each other and deal. Speeds things up and avoids a bunch of misdeals. And if the people you are playing with are semi-serious, make sure everyone understands the rules you are playing by. Tons of situations in Hold'em that aren't covered by the basics: flipping over cards early, betting out of turn, type of table-talk allowed, all that stuff.

The only thing I could suggest is serving finger-foods that don't get the cards all greasy and stained. Other than that, I think you've got all you need.

BTW, the site that mrjinglesusa posted if great. It is what we use for our schedules.

One more thing. If this is going to be a regular thing, say every week or couple of weeks, look into KEM cards. You can buy probably 10 or so packs of bicycles for the cost of a couple packs of KEM, but the KEM last forever. They don't wear out like the Bicycle cards.

Just one of I'm sure MANY links. Pretty good pricing for two packs.

Mr. (SIR) El Presidente,

Just for informations sake, I was at Conrad Treasury last weekend and they are advertising the fact that they will have Hold 'Em soon. I am looking forward to this.

I am very new to Texas Hold'em, watched it on TV lots, but only played home tournies twice. Unfortunately my other players DONT like to smoke cigars (Pity the Fools). So I have to endure the seering cold of sitting outside.

Whats the buy-in? How many people you got involved?

Kind Regards

Ross...

We had another tourney last night. I changed it up a little to make it even more fun (this one with the same 20 people every month).

The buy-in was $100.

$75 went to the winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd)

$25 went to each player at the start of the tourney in the form of a green chip. The players could not use this chip to bet with but instead had to give it to the player that knocked them out.

Each time you know someone out, you get their $25 chip. So if you accumulate a bunch of "Bounty" chips but don't make it to the end, you still get paid. (ie - you know out 5 people, then you get knocked out, you only have to give up 1 chip to the person who knocked you out. You get the cash in the other 4).

It was fun and everyone enjoyed it. It also encouraged the guys, who like to "coast" and let everyone else do the work, to play.

That's very cool Mark. I like that idea!
