Ken Gargett Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 if you had to pick a single cigar that is so good now, or has been over the last 4-5 years, that it will, in time, be seen as a legend, what would it be? or are there none that fit the bill? can be the limited editions or one-offs or a standard smoke that is just so good now or a recent addition to the fold. for me, the SLR DC. as a back up, i'd be thinking the cohiba LE's, DC and/or sublimes. any thoughts?
El Presidente Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I would agree with the Saint Luis Rey Double Corona. Without upsetting your one cigar criteria...let's break it into Rough Formats. One cigar which has the potential to be a legend. Let's define Legend as a 98 + / 100 within 7 years. Large Format Cigars: SLRDC / Cohiba Sublime / Cohiba Double Corona EL Mid Format Cigars Cohiba Siglo VI / Partagas SP2 / HDM Le Hoyo De Dieux (Cabs) Small Format Cigars Trinidad Reyes / Partagas Serie De Connoisseur No 3 / Por Larranaga Petit Corona /
anacostiakat Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Large Format Cigars: Cohiba Sublime / Cohiba Double Corona EL / RyJ Hermoso #1 EL Mid Format Cigars Partagas SD 03 EL 2001 Small Format Cigars Trinidad Reyes

I would add RA Gigante, Punch RS11, fundi and lancero - I think these would score 98+ 10-15 years down the road.

Cohiba007 Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 02 Punch SS#2's keep getting better. The Monte Mill jar robusto is an excellent smoke that still has "bite" so I think these will be great in 5-10 years. I am hoping that the Cohiba DC EL turns into a legend as I have 2 boxes napping. ;-)
harwellplant Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 in addition to some of the ones already mentioned, the montecristo edmundo has made tremendous strides over previous examples. with such a unique vitola and blend, i think they will be spot on. also, the robainas may be prime candidates.
Mel Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 » MY say is 05 Punch RS #11 Prove it Habanohol, send me one to try.;-) Large-Cohiba Sublimes Mid.- 02 PSS#2 Small-PLPC
shrink Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 MY say is 05 Punch RS #11 Funny you should mention it. I was thinking the same thing, but decided against nominating it. I tried only one out of my FEB05 box, and decided it was so good that it deserved to be put away for a couple more years. Strong, tannic, with depth and complexity. Not sure if it'll be a 98-100, but I know it's gonna be special. Smoking from an '03 box now.
