El Presidente Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 106th US Open Winner. Nice to see another from Oz giving it to the big boys :-D
PorscheC4S Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Did he win it? Or did Phil lose it? ;-) Either way, he gets the big check. There are a lot of you Kangas that can golf, what about the Kiwis:confused:

DocRKS Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Geoff Ogilvy won the US Open and changed his life forever. He will now forever be introduced as the winner of a Major Tourney plus has picked up decades worth of exemptions from qualifying into other events. As far as Phil Mickleson - I had flash-backs to Greg Norman snatching defeat from the jaws of victory! Why didn't Phil's caddy just throw that driver away and make him hit a lofted wood or long iron and hit the friggin fairway - instead of watching his drives sail off garbage cans, hospitalitity tents, etc... However, much to Phil's credit - at the post match interview - he started off with the phrase, "I feel like an idiot." That's good because the way he finished the match yesterday - his play was not too bright.

BTW - A tip of the hat to Colin Montgomery for once again going into his patented CHOKE move - this boy can not produce the goods on Yankee soil......
ToddziLLa Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I think that may be the biggest choke I've ever seen in my short life in any sport!
strayvector Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 » I think that may be the biggest choke I've ever seen in my short life in » any sport! I wouldn't call it that...in golf alone there's been Norman and that frenchman a few years ago who have choked worse than what Mickelson did yesterday.
Vetteman Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Everyone's talking about Phil's meltdown, but how about Monte? I thought he was in a better position to win after the putt on 17 and tee shot on 18. Gotta give credit to the Aussie. He was cool under pressure.
purosdave Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Winged Foot eats pro golfers for lunch! I do enjoy seeing a course that really challenges the best the world has to offer, but it is really unfortunate that Phil didn't just play safe. I know that's not his nature, but driving into the hospitatlity tent? That is a move that I would expect of myself, but a pro golfer leading a tournament? :-(

El Presidente Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Greg Normans collapse (collapses) were some of the most haunting memories I have :crying:
TR Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 and by the looks of Geoff's wife, he's going to be a daddy....or she has a twinkee problem...hell they live in Scottsdale, so it is a matter of time before I see him playing golf.;-) ......yeah right, I play the expensive Scottsdale courses when I pay a fraction of the rack rate....like now for example. The Boulders is $450 usd in season, now $65 usd.....it's why crazy folks like me play golf in 115 degree heat!!!!
skid11 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Geoff is a really nice young guy. I meet him a few years ago when he was playing the ANZ queensland circuit. In those days he'd go birdie, birdie, eagle, double bogey, quadruple bogey, birdie etc................ get my drift he had exceptional talent and not scared of anything. His game has matured and gone is the swashbuckling and in is a very rock steady player. I'll tip him to keep up his good form longer than scott or baddley. Poor old Phil....... at least he won't die wondering. It's looks like he's put on a few pounds over the years or swallowed a sheep which can't help his swing (but I won't hold that against him) Colin "Monty" looks like an out of work version of Prince Charles and has bought Greg Norman's old car. ...........it's called the "Holden Choker" I believe. That's enough bagging begone with me !!!
new2habano Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Ogilvy played great and certainly deserved to win because he never gave up even though he was behind all day. The funny thing is after I saw what his wife looked like I suddenly felt sorry for him, is it me or did she look more like his mother then his wife?
