Jimmy2 Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 I agree with Van Bolivar Corona Gigante is a nice full bolded cigar with great flavor. But you have to try the new blended Montecristo Edmundo it is much stronger than the earlier blend. And those who say they never changed the blend try the late 05 or newer and you will agree their is no doubt.
El Presidente Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 » » » » By full bodied I am assuming you mean weight upon the palate. » » What the heck does this mean, Rob???? Van, I believe you can have a full bodied cigar which is not gangbuster strong. I love Pinot Noir. I adore Pinot Noir which is dank, dark, forest floor and high alcohol (14%). The characteristic I like is that it has a full, rich, velvety mouthfeel. It can be immensely complex (the reason I love great Pinot)....bit it will never rival the in your face strength of big Shiraz or Cabernet. In cigars I believe two cigars demonstrate my point (subjective I know). The first is HDM Epicure No 1 and the second Juan Lopez Seleccion No 1. Both have a rich deep velvety mouthfeel. Neither are gangbusters in strength but both are immensely complex in flavour profile. They are my cigar equivalent of great Pinot. Big on the palate but not strong. ;-)
Stuck in Alaska Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 I'd say the Lusi full flavored. But not full bodied.

But your post illustrates my point that terms such as "strong" and "full-bodied" and "full-flavored" etc are too subjective and vague to have any universal meaning.

I use the word "strong" in relation to cigars when describing the nicotine content. Other than that, it's hugely subjective.

Got a bunch of Bolivar Corona Gigantes last week, and have smoked almost all of them already! Very full bodied and flavorful. I also have some DIC 05 Edmundos, but I dont think they are nearly as powerful. Great, but they dont pack as much punch imho.
