A post on another site I belong to got me to thinking about this.

Well, actually a couple of posts.

Anyway, what I am after here is not what is the strongest per se. But for those who like full bodied cigars what is your favorite?

By full bodied I am assuming you mean weight upon the palate.

R&J Exhibicion No 3

Partagas Seire De Connoisseur No 1/2/3

RYJ Cazadores

For my taste it's got to be the Partagas Lusitania.

Copious amounts of smoke to compliment its full flavor.

Isn't it amazing what different perceptions we all have. I have always found Lusi to be medium and complex especially with a little age.

The world of cigars is sooooooo subjective ;-)

El Prez you are absolutely correct.

As for me full bodied in my regular rotation would be the Part SdC 3 and the part corona.

Lusitania to me are very mild ..

RYJ Cazadores are not strong at all but tasty.

La Flor Dominicana Ligeros Cigars now thats strong .:ok:

Also they changed the blend in the Edmundo I smoked a couple late 05's and they are much stronger then the 04's wow what a big difference.

More power with more nap time these will be a classic .

Your assumption is correct!

But also, not only subjective perception but also the miriad factors that occur when you sit down to smoke that influence your smoke. Including the cigar! LOL

If it says Bolivar on the band then I know I will be pleased with the full bodied flavor forthcoming. If the SOB draws? I have a CG on the slate form this evening.:-P

R&J Cazadores is strong but not complex so it gets beat. Sorry but I just don't see all the strength in the Part. Serie du Conn. line.

Last one I smoked almost gave me the cigar sickness but that could have been in combination with the over indulgence of alcohol.

I'm with Mel on the Party Seri Du Conn. I've smoked some fine specimens (thanks Prez) and to me they are medium to full bodied.

well that has ruined my day - forced to agree with rob. yes, i think these fall into the medium/mild category but whatever, fabulous cigars. in defence of those who find them full bodied, i believe that they were once much more so. perhaps you have access to some treasures from the past.

no one has mentioned my favs, the SLR DC's - or do you think of those as mild as well???

Partagas Serie P No 2 (and more generally anything Partagas).

And yours? :-)

What the heck does this mean, Rob????

First off, cigar smoke is, in the main, weightless or "lighter than air." Ever noticed how it slowly rises and dissipates when you expel it from the mouth?

Secondly, the palate is the roof of the mouth. So any weight the smoke had would be felt on the tongue rather than the palate. Unless of course you were thinking about it being lighter than air and therefore attempting to rise within your mouth up against the palate....

Kidding aside....

I've often expressed my frustration with terms such as "strength" or "body" etc. as there really is no universally accepted meaning for them when used in discussing cigars and the smoking experience.

When I named Bolivar Corona Gigante as my favorite "full bodied" cigar, I had in mind that cigar's intensity of flavors, volume of smoke, tendency to make my eyes water just a bit when expelling smoke through the nose, powerful aroma both expelling through the nose and wafting into the nose from the lit foot. To me all of these factors are part of "fullness of body".

Well so far for me the Boli PC. Partagas too. But I have lots of sticks still to try considering I have only been smoking a couple years.

Oh and for a non-cuban I agree with my brother Jimmy2 that Litto Gomez's La Flor Dominicana Ligero and Double Ligero lines pack a wallop. If you get a chance to try his Double Ligero Lancero do not pass it up!

I hadn't even considered non-Cuban cigars....

If you like a cigar that is all power and little finesse give Joya de Nicaragua Machitos a try.

Van,

In actuality, there is a hard and a soft palate within the oropharynx. The hard palate is the roof of the mouth/floor of the nasal cavity as you stated. The soft palate is the tongue and surrounding tissues on the floor of the mouth.

With regard to body, I agree with you that the Boli Inmensa & CG, in particular, along with a couple of other Boli, are full in body. I would also say that the Part de Part has that trait.
