» I'm a sucker for a good single malt scotch, with or without a cigar.

» Wondering what favorites anyone has, or any cigar recommendations to pair.

» I like a peaty scotch from Islay - Lagavulin 16yr is my choice. Then

» again, I also really enjoy a smooth Highland like a Macallan.

Cant go wrong with the Macallan...especially that 18 yo. If you would like to try a less expensive single, with loads of nice peat and earth, check out the Royal Lochnager (not sure of that spelling lol). Its about half the price or less than the Mac 18, and still a really smooth smokey drink.

» Rarely do I do this, but I picked up a bottle of something I'd never had

» before, solely because it was CHEAP (duty-free honeymoon to the USVI).

» I'm curious as to any thoughts about The Glenlivet 21 year single malt;

» also if any of you are familiar with it, what do you like to smoke with

» it? Thanks guys!;-)

I picked up a bottle of Glenlive 21 yo Archive back in 2002 while I was visiting Scotland. I went to the Scottish Whisky Heritage Museum right next to the Edinburgh Castle. A must stop for any Scotch Drinker that heads that way. It was a very smooth, mild Scotch that wasnt peaty at all. You cant go wrong with that bottle. As for smokes, I couldnt say. You cant smoke at the bar they have there and when I took it home, I cant remember what I smoked while partaking in this drink. At that point in time, I didnt have any cuban source or on the forums then.

» For me, I love any Springbank, Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength, or Highland

» Park. I wont say no to a dram of Lagavulin though.

I'm a Springbank "*****" also. And if you like Laphroaig, check out Peat Monster.

I also like the smoky-death pummeling provided by Langavulin 16, and the liquid-lava of the Talisker. But for my "every day" go-to single malt, I gravitate to the wonderful light sweetness of Oban. Just a touch of branchwater, garcon!
