tey Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Reading the new CA today I saw that the distinguido got a 93. I pulled one out of the humi to see if maybe I might agree with the review. No matter how hard I poked that thing it would not draw. I don't even think Pamela Anderson could've sucked smoke outta there. Very dissapointing
Havana Joe Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 For me there is nothing worse than a plugged cigar....:-(
El Rushbo Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I'm going to break out a Salamone that has about a year and a half on it this weekend. I'm eager to try it. I'm thinking it's going to be at one of the extreme ends of the taste/quality spectrum. I will post the review Fri/Sat...Hope my experience is different than yours.
SeanGAR Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 The distinguidos I've smoked recently (albeit 05 box code) have been much less impressive than the salomons from the same time. Haven't had draw issues with either though.

My GF has some of the samller Cuabas (short story sized) from our trip to London and she complains of the same thing. Out of 6-7 only 3 had enough draw to get smoke.
El Presidente Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 How the hell a roller can stuff up a Cuaba Dist is beyond me. My favourite Cuaba (and the smallest) is the Divino. The Distinguido is hit and miss. I have had a few which I wanted to run away with and marry. I have had others which had all the charisma of Bob Dole.

If your Salamone is like the one I had on Christmas day, you're in for some disappointment. The draw was just so so, but DAMNED that cigar was bland. Good luck.

The Privateer Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I'd advise giving the Distinguidos another try. They can be heavenly when smoked at the right time. They are not a cigar for the impatient....they take a while to develop and onlyhit their stride midway through. Flavours are mild, complex and subtle. Not an easy smoke but very rewarding sometimes.

jay8354 Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 El Prez, is it generally that Cuaba have bad cigars (quality) or that they need a longtime before you can smoke them (ageing of the liguero)?
cobra Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 I agree. Ive had 2 out of a box of ten that made a trip against the wall after popping some facial vessels sucking. God did not want his tobacco to perform like this. Now they sit and I will have to be damn desparate to pull another out. It was nop surprise as they are rock hard. Did not buy from Rob!
