El Presidente Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 This is just a topic for discussion...nobody needs to jump out of the window as yet. What are your pick as the next three cigars to be discontinued by Habanos s.a? I have my thoughts but I will leave it until tomorrow to post.
JMH Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Well seeing as they're trying to refine the habanos image as one of absolute luxury and style (well, at least as far as I know, and I'm probably wrong ) I'd say any of the lesser well known cigars, or anything that people generally think of as being of a lesser quality. My guess is anything from JLP; LFDC?
Havana Joe Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 IMHO I think they should discontinue any of the machine rolled/bunched cigars. To me, that takes a way from the lure of smoking. I want to enjoy a premium hand rolled, not a machine rolled smoke.
DocRKS Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Monte No. 2 Partagas Serie D No. 4 Cohiba Esplendido Of course, these are only guesses...I might be wrong.;-)
Tampa1257 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Not having current as well as past sales figures, this would be very difficult to determine. At least I would hope that they would use a criteria such as sales volume to determine such a stance. On the flip side, I would love to see some line extensions of certain marcas. RAMÓN Allones Trinidad Vegas Robaina
Mel Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 My bet is some of the more slow to sell cigars and I am not sure what they may be. Fat is in these days so I would expect some of the thinner ring gauge stuff will go on the chopping block. The Prez. will cry if they eliminate his slim Serie Du line.

Wiley Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Ugh! How depressing. Hopefully nothing! Those shitheads have cut enough already.
SuperT Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I hope not, but I could see them cutting some of the LGC Medaille D'or series, and ??? Who knows. . .
tey Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 » Ugh! How depressing. Hopefully nothing! Those shitheads have cut enough » already. No ****. If they want to cut something why don't they get rid of guantanamera? I have yet to meet anyone that likes that marca.

CigarZen Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Whatever is slow selling a doesn't have a protector in-house. OK Prez what do ya think, and why.
El Presidente Posted March 21, 2006 Author Posted March 21, 2006 I think they will reduce two brands to a single vitola each and maintain it there for perhaps 2 years for some breathing space. The brands affected would be Sancho Panza and Rafael Gonzalez. Of these they would keep: Sancho Panza Belicoso Rafael Gonzalez Corona Extra. Why? the sales figures internationally are awfull and have been for a long time. Both brands need a re-think and re-launch with perhaps a Robusto, Short Robusto or Toro sized cigar + a packaging change to revitalize interest. As they stand now....they are dead men walking.
jgros001 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I would guess they would trim the duplicate sizes from some lines...one of the Punch corona gordas, Punch petit corona, H Upmann Churchills. I would hate to see them cut the RS 11,12 or Punch Punch.

Let me know when I start. First order of business is bringing back Punch Super Selection 2!
tey Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I love both SP and RG! They better keep their hands off non-plus!
sleeper Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 As long as they stay away from the SP Beli, they can hack up the rest of the line.
habanolover Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 That would be a shame for RG in my opinion!!! I had a young (05) RG PE on the way in to work this morning that helped re-affirmed my love for the Cuban leaf! Thing is, especially when you consider the price point, I don't think I could have enjoyed ANY smoke much more( High fallutin' hand rolled included). I kinda like the fact that the RG PE sort of flies below the radar...unfortunately, it's sad to think that it's appeal in that regard could possibly bring about it's demise....Hopefully the Spaniards won't allow it to happen. I hear the common folk LOVE the PE over there. The mear thought that it could be wiped out makes me want to go on a hoarding spree!! » I think they will reduce two brands to a single vitola each and maintain it » there for perhaps 2 years for some breathing space. SuperT Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I know virtually nothing of the RG line, I think I MAY have smoked one. But the SP line really calls to me. The Beli is a favorite and the Non-Plus (when they draw, my box of 01s is TIGHT) is fan-frickin'-tastic! I've also had a SP Sancho (bought a box, gifted half of them away) that was simply divine! I've got 4-5 left and just need the right opportunity to light another up. I hope you're wrong Prez.
Mel Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 » »» Thanks Mel. Let me know when I start. First order of business is bringing » back Punch Super Selection 2! Thats it! Get off your lazy ass and start this afternoon. Next bus to Cuba for you. Fire that ass hole that eliminated the Punch SS2 as your first order of the day. Who in their right mind would d/c that cigar?
tey Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 cuba needs a cigar revolt! make them put back into production sticks that we love.
