CigarZen Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 It seems like there is an inordinate amount of product from this year. Some places have endless supplies of Trini Fund.s from this year, by way of illustration. I heard that there was a lot of production, it was held back in the warehouses in favor of newer production so it didn't appear to be a backlog. Rob -- what do you say of this? Seems a bit odd to me.
El Presidente Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 You are not seeing a lot of 1999 are you ;-)
habanohal Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 » You are not seeing a lot of 1999 are you ;-) I thought 99 was a bad year??? I do see alot of 98s' but most of them are in marcas that are so called 2nd rate ( Sancho Panza, Jual Lopez) I have about 12 boxes of differant brands from 98 and they are all marvelous. ( except the plugged buggers of the Partagas Conn # 1)

sleeper Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Perhaps the 99-00 are all in Cuba getting revisado stamps as we type:-) .
El Presidente Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 1999 was the worst year re quality in Habanos record. There were some good cigars made but world wide distributors complained long and loud regarding the excessive rate of plugged cigars. It was nigh impossible to move 1999 stock both then and now. Yet production was higher than 1998. So where has all that stock gone? It rates alongside the Bermuda triangle as one of the great mysteries of our time ;-)
maestro Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 and alongside the Crispy Creme saga, to ask it is to answer. Where did all the doughnuts go? Certainly not in the public's waistline-had to have been an accounting error.
shrink Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 habanolhal: "they are all marvelous...except the plugged buggers" Those guys? They're all across the street at the bath house... and they're marvelous, too... just ask Ken.

Thanks for the tip, El Prez;-)

El Presidente Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Havana Joe, there are some excellent 1998 cigars. Your vendor (and it doesn't matter who) just needs to check them thoroughly. Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater ;-)
tey Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 i think the 98's need to age longer to fix some of the plugged problems....sarcasm ofcourse
ironman Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I agree, don't give up on the 98's there are some gems to be had!!!!
kab55 Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 I've had some pretty damn good 98's & haven't had many problems with plugged ones.
