FOH is a broad church but we have a bylaw which states:

If you have been ejected from another board, e-mail me for a consideration of probation. Don’t hold your breath

I am always inclined to give a probation and trial period of membership. This is mostly a cultural cringe reflecting Australia's history of accepting the worst of the worst and making it work

You will need to let me know however....before I find out or it is brought to my attention that you have a chequered past on other BB's.

If I find out first then there will be no reprieve.

Consider an amnesty in place for existing members until this Friday the 17th to let me know "The Dark Side" ie problems they may have experienced elsewhere. e-mail me at [email protected]

Communications will remain confidential.

If you have a clean slate....or a great story... you may continue.

Sorry for the interruption to normal programming

I have very quietly belonged to four or five. Never been ejected, yet. I have either removed myself, if I could, or asked to be removed. Not because they were bad forums, I just wasn't getting what I was looking for. One had a rate the retailers page, which helped me find C-C.com. They have discontinued that page. I don't contribute a lot because I don't feel I have a lot to contribute at this point. I am however looking for information, on how I can better enjoy my pass time.

I have recently requested that my name be taken off this forum. I also did a chicken **** thing in the process. Rob kindly, and in his own humorous way, asked if I might explain why. I didn't see the need. I wanted to thank another member for his insight and experiences before I was off the forum. He graciously offered his feedback, and asked why I was leaving. I told him. After reflecting on this, I realized that was not fair to Rob. I'm in the process of trying to square that away with Rob before I'm gone. Rob, Chuck, I was wrong for handling this the way I did. Later, Bob

Bob,

I hope you arent leaving because you arent getting what you expected from this forum. I feel this is such a broad forum in all respects - Cigars, friendships, fam, bullshittin', laughs, liquors etc...

I dont have the slightest idea why you are leaving, none of my biz really, but just wanted to throw this out there. For me, out of all the forums Ive been to, this has got to be the most laid back, informative(without being snobbish), laugh out loud piece of internet real estate I know of. I also feel the most comfortable here. And the host isnt so bad himself.

So if what we have here isnt for you, thats your decision. Hope you didnt take someones comments too seriously either. There is a lot of jabbing here, which makes me like this place even more.

Take care.

I rarely visit the other boards that I used to frequently visit. Most boards I've been to except this one are full of member wars, cross-board wars, and personal attacks. Even though there is a lot of good info on those boards, it's just got too tiresome to wade thru all the B.S.

I was banned from letstalkcigars.com

I was a moderator for a sort period. But crap hit the fan with the respect they ran the board. I disagreed with some of their tactics and policies so I decided to step down and voice my opinions apperantly they did not take kindly to that and banned me. :-D

I wonder if this counts at all. Letstalkcigars seems to be defunct. <>

Genuinely sorry to see you go Bob. Thankyou for your e-mail.

There has been a general complaint of late (not necessarily from Bob) that my treatment of newcomers can be harsh.

I will keep an eye on it but will continue to treat any new member with a short hard stick if they endeavour to offload cigars or seek Cuban Cigar sources as part of their opening post. I am sorry....but they are simply morons.

We have a thriving community which I do not want to see go the way of other boards (albeit there are many fine boards out there).

If we continue to grow then there will always be the requirement for a firm hand. This is a very easy board to manage. The culture is excellent but for it to remain so, trash needs to be culled ruthlessly.

Thankyou for all those who have sent me their "Priors" !LOL!

You have all been responded to (I hope).

Good points there Rob. I think you have done nothing wrong here. Like you said, someone new trying to unload cigars or wanting the pot 'o gold at the end of the rainbow in the first post should be harshly dealt.

There has been a tremendous influx of new members, which in my opinion, is great..but with more people come more problems. If you just let it slide, just think of the trouble.

We that know you know that you are a softy:lookaround:

Are you telling us we have wolves who lay amongst us?

What does it take to get banned from a board anyhow (would a scandalous picture of me in leathers do)? What is a chequered past on a BB and how do you verify this? Is it through a grapevine or come friday, do I get a knock on the door, courtesy of a reformed padder, who will go about anything for a SLR double corona and proceed to break my legs?

Can't wait until the purge. You have grown to be a little too soft, letting in just any scallywag.

You know you will be in trouble Friday if you wake to hear hellicopters circling your house.......followed by a knock at the door.

Don't answer the door ;-)

Bob Hawke lives about 100m from where I do, and apparently he gave the govt permission to use his house for anti-terrorism training. It was pretty strange the first time hearing this thumping noise, looking out the window and seeing two black choppers hovering outside your window :lookaround:

Never been kicked out of any cigar forum but I’ve been politely asked to go out of some places… do I need to make a confession?:no:

El Prez...I've been a member of this board for about a year. Honestly, I've not seen you be "harsh" to anyone. At least not from my viewpoint. You have some rules on the board and you are consistent in enforcing them. You also take out the trash in a quick and clean manner. You don't string it out over a number of threads and days, even weeks, of posting.

As I am sure some of you have noted, I have recently increased my posting at this board. There is very good reason for it. I dislike the drama that seems to plague just about every other cigar board on the .net. It gets old. Rob, your efforts keeps this board pretty drama-free. However, you manage to do it in such a manner that it does not come across as a dictatorship. I, for one, thank you for the manner in which you run this board.

Anyway, just my 0.02.

Rob,

You've been crystal clear with your expectations for the board and of us. I'd wager that those of us who enjoy it here, the cameraderie and banter, have found your vision for this place attractive and have bought into it.

Keep doing what you're doing Rob. We're behind you all the way...in the most masculine, pants-up sense. :-D

The thought of any Forum kicking off Mark (n2adventure) is mind numbing. I have Herfed with Mark, traded with him, watched him actively Support Our Troops at no small personal expense to himself. This man is the embodiement of the principles of Brotherhood and Fraternalism.

I am very proud to share this excellent Board with him and proud to call him my Friend. :ok:

BTW - just a reflecting thought on belonging to any community - I borrow loosely from the immortal words of Groucho Marks....

"I refuse to belong to any group that would have me as a member.";-) :-D

FOH was certainly established after he uttered that phrase - for I think that even he would want to be in our midst .....

I agree with what the Prez posted above and as for not being friendly with new members; I am a relatively new member and I have felt welcome from day one.
