kjellfrick Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 This brand doesn't seem to evoke much enthusiasm, which I find strange. Given my newbie status and undeveloped palate etc etc I still find the Petit Corona a nice smoke. It starts out immediately with a mouthful of flavors and continues to develop in strength and character until the last third when it gets a little sharp. I've only smoked a few so I'm curious how others find this brand. Also, I just bought a box of SLR Series A and would like advice on storage time on these. I haven't tried them yet but I have high hopes. Anybody with experience on these cigars? Well, anyway, the Olympic final in hockey starts NOW and I'm signing out!
Colt45 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Give the review forum a look - there are a few SLR reviews.
cf2112 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I personally do not care for this brand as a whole but have only tried the A's-01, Regios's-03, and DC's-04. The great thing is they make a few brands I do like:-D You on the other hand may love them, if you don't trade them for some you do like. Just not here;-)
habanohal Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I went through a box of Regios. 20 of them tasted like Nyquil cough syrup. After that experiance , it leads me to stay away from the line.
cigardawg Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I have smoked the Regios, Serie As, and the PCs. Of them all, the PC is my favorite and my third favorite PC overall. I currently have 2 boxes of PCs in the cabinet...from 98 and 00. Great flavors, especially the ones from 98. Of the Regios, I have only smoked those from a dress box from 03. They have all had great flavor, though a couple of burn problems. Just did a split on a cabinet of 01s. They look and smell great. The Serie A is not a bad cigar, just not my cup of tea. I can find many Corona Gordas that I would prefer to smoke. That said, I have not tried the Lonsdale, though it is on my list to try one day. The SLR Double Corona is also supposed to be fantastic based on my discussions with others.
mr.harten Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I have yet to have a bad Regios. They fit my flavor preference very well. I have had a Serie A and it really didn't do much for me.
km13 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 » I have yet to have a bad Regios. They fit my flavor preference very well. » I have had a Serie A and it really didn't do much for me. I think they are excellent cigars. The Churchill is the only SLR that I really don't care for. Love the DC.
kjellfrick Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 Thank you folks for your input. Boils down to taste again, right? I´ll brave my first Series A out of the box (an 03) any day now because I'm really curious how they compare to the PC. It could have been my victory cigar when the swedish hockey team won the Olympics a few hours ago, but I settled for a Cohiba Robusto with a smile on my face.
shrink Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 The best Double Corona I ever smoked was an '01 SLR. The '04's are very good also.
setay Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 DC's are a must and the regios are nice for a change of pace.
Smokiethebear Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 The Regios are the only ones I've smoked and I've yet to have one that did anything for me. Just doesn't fit my taste.
Lemon Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I have only tried the Regios which was excellent. I'd really like to try more of these, eg. the Serie A.
alexgtp Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 for the price I really enjoy an aged Series A.:-D
Mel Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 The Lonsdale and DoubleCorona are very high quality cigars and I like them. Notice I make two statements above. A cigar might be of the highest quality and still not be pleasing to someone.
seamus Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I love the DCs. I wish I could try one older than 01 though. I'm sure these are amazing with 10+ years.
billyburg Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 The only one i've tried is the PC. Not exactly my style flavor profile. As you can see there's generaly no middle of the road on these. You ethier love or leave em.
Wiley Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 A lot of people love them. I've only tried five Regios, they were around four years old at the time, and were all nasty.
argon345 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 All the serie A I have tried have been quite tasty, however they did have a bit of age on them...
spsurfin Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I have enjoyed all the SLR lines I have purchased.
Havana Joe Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I have had only one SLR before (when I first started smoking Habanos) and I really enjoyed it. I not sure on wether or not it had age on it, but it was a great smoke.
J-ROD Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I've had a few from '01 and '98, most came from JJ, still have 2 in my humidor. So far I've enjoyed both the A's and the Regios.
