JohnS Posted June 2 Posted June 2 The Bolivar Soberanos Limited Edition from 2018. Do you recall it, perhaps? Admittedly, I had not thought about the LE special release for a long time and it only came to my mind because Halfwheel have just released a rare Cuban Cigar review this week, and it was on this particular cigar... https://halfwheel.com/bolivar-soberanos-el-2018-2/472015/ We had a thread on it from 2020 and reactions were mixed... If you've smoked this cigar recently, or indeed have it in your humidor, how is it coming along?
Popular Post Marco_011t556 Posted June 2 Popular Post Posted June 2 Very good cigar, but quite intense. It makes me think of Padron, lol! 2 3

BrooksW Posted June 2 Posted June 2 It was quite a bit stronger than I expected, considering the age. Flavor was great, just wish the burn had not been as problematic. 3
JohnS Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 Thanks Brooks for adding that point. Much appreciated and yes, we can relate well to that dilemma of having a flavoursome, aged Habanos cigar that would be perfect apart from construction issues. Why, just last weekend I had the same experience myself with a H.Upmann Magnum 56 LE from 2015 at a friend's bucks party. I gifted him one from the box too. There was no question of its shelf-life as it was quite flavoursome, we both agreed, but mine had burn issues too. 1
ha_banos Posted June 2 Posted June 2 I have half a box. Just left them I figure around the 10 year mark might be worth trying one! I know the LE use two year aged tobacco...at least they used to. I recall hearing good things way back. And nothing usually wrong with aged Bolivar. So I figured I'd just forget about them. Plenty of other stuff to get through. I'll try to remember to come back here one day. ☺️ 3

The Mag 56 LE has had burning issues from my box as well, and sometimes a bit tight.
Ciscojohansson Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I loved them upon release and bought 8 boxes in total. Still have a handful boxes left. Every single one I smoked had burn issues. They go out easily. 2 1
Popular Post DeeBeezy Posted June 7 Popular Post Posted June 7 Honoured to see my thread above. The last one of these I smoked was about a year ago. I ended up picking up 3 boxes from 3 different markets - sold one for a large profit. My conclusion with a lot of experience - nothing beats a great box of regular production cigars. Cuban cigars are smoking better young than they ever have, Bolívar is a brand I actually prefer young. Nothing gets better than some of the regular production staples when done well - make sure you get a great box. For instance, this Soberanos was lovely but no better than the royal corona I had smoked the night before it. Good cigar, will try to smoke it again imminently. I've stop chasing LEs though. 4 1
