In addition, there is not enough paper currency in circulation. Until a few days ago, the largest bill was the 1,000-peso note, equivalent to about two US dollars at the informal exchange rate. For that reason, the Cuban government recently decided that the Central Bank of Cuba (which controls monetary issuance) would print 2,000- and 5,000-peso bills 3
JohnS Posted April 16 Posted April 16 There's been some famous examples throughout history whereby hyperinflation has rendered the value of currency as practically worthless. Notable examples include The German Weimar Republic in 1923, Hungary in 1946 and Zimbabwe in 2007-8.
