JohnS Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I believe the greater majority of our members would utilise more practical Travel Humidors for their use... Davidoff Travel Humidor Urban Scheduled for June April 2, 2026 - Charlie Minato Davidoff’s updated Travel Humidor line is getting its third, and what the company is calling the series’ final release. The new Davidoff Travel Humidor Urban follows the release of the Explorer and Business models. Each is a soft pouch-style bag that has one very large pocket. Inside the pocket is a removable tray that has slots for eight cigars, divided by flexible, felt-covered dividers that naturally adjust to the thickness of each cigar. There’s also a smaller secondary area to store cigar accessories. When closed, the large flap is held in place via magnets. Davidoff says that its Travel Humidor can keep cigars fresh for up to 45 days using the included Boveda pack. JDoughty Posted April 5 Posted April 5 This is basically a Louis Vuitton purse for men. Its function is to look fashionable and to show you spent a ridiculous amount of money to carry your stuff around. Not actually sure it does the first thing very well. I am pretty sure my Pelican case does a better job at the other thing. Pass. 1 1
Joeyjojo Posted April 5 Posted April 5 A purse is a purse, regardless of price, brand or marketing. I'd rather spend the $400+ on cigars.
JDoughty Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I mean, I think it is pretty weird to assign gender to how we carry stuff around. The obsession with publicly performing gender by either agreeing or refusing to carry any bag with a long handle is pretty silly. But then, most gender stereotypes are silly to anyone who isn't from the culture arbitrarily dictating who is allowed to wear or carry what. Powdered wigs, pointy shoes and high heels used to be an exclusively masculine thing. Now it's the opposite. Does it make any more logical sense one way or the other? It does not. But neither does spending Louis Vuitton money or Davidoff money on a bag to carry your stuff in. It's a bag, either it carries your stuff or it doesn't. Being weird about making sure it properly displays your gender and/or socioeconomic status is optional. 1
gormag38 Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I had a gentleman trying to sell one of the previous years' versions about a year or so ago. Was asking a couple hundred IIRC. The thing never ended up selling and continued to just collect dust. I'm not sure who gets the idea to make some of these things; but they can't be great sellers right?! My crowd doesn't seem to be interested in items such as this. Different strokes for different folks I guess. But $400 is a steep price to pay for cigar satchel. *Noted that the Halfwheel article states this is the company's final release of the line. 1
JDoughty Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I have varying sizes of Pelican case traveldors that are hard shell plastic, tough as nails, airtight and set up with foam padding to safely hold and protect cigars. They are designed to be waterproof and shock resistant. They do a really, really good job of traveling with cigars. If some idiot - me, for instance - accidentally sits on them or spills coffee on them, as long as the case is closed, my cigars are still fine and the case isn't going to be damaged or stained. It would take a disaster of fairly significant proportions to mess up a Pelican case, like being dropped in the ocean run over by a car. Even then it has a very good chance of survival with contents intact. That's specifically what these things are made for. I do not see anything or anyone actually improving on Pelican cases any time soon. Making them prettier but more fragile and more subject to being damaged or stained for 10X the cost of a high performing Pelican case is not a selling point. Unless you really want a man purse, in which case, you do you. 1
Chibearsv Posted April 6 Posted April 6 If you want to spend $400ish for a travel humidor, get the Sotelo case/satchel that holds 10 cigars instead. It's still a lot of money but it's brilliantly functional. I can put 10 cigars, Boveda pack, all the accessories I need, and my iPad in it. If you want to spend less, a Cigar Caddy works fine; it's just clunky to tote around.
