JohnS Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Bill Would Ban Internet/Mail Order Cigar Sales to Oregon February 17, 2026 - Charlie Minato A new law has been proposed that could ban the delivery of cigars to consumers in Oregon, outlawing internet and mail-order cigar sales to consumers in the state. Fortunately, for cigar smokers, work is already underway to exempt cigars from the bill. The Oregon Senate is one of a growing list of state legislatures that have seen the introduction of a bill that would ban the delivery of certain tobacco and vaping products, effectively outlawing online sales of those products. Federal law requires the sale of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco to occur face-to-face, banning the delivery of these products to consumers. However, the law doesn’t apply to other forms of tobacco—like cigars and pipe tobacco—as well as certain types of vaping products. Just because federal law doesn’t ban the sales doesn’t mean a state cannot do so. Currently, major cigar retailers will not ship orders to consumers in Hawaii and Utah. S.B. 1571 would ban the shipping of cigarettes, tobacco products and “inhalant delivery systems” to consumers in Oregon and require them to be sold face-to-face. Fortunately, Sen. Lisa Reynolds, D-Portland, has already introduced an amendment that would exempt cigars from the proposed law. The amendment has not yet been voted on. The bill has support from seven Democrats. svmiiller Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Yet another blue state that can't focus on important urgent things, yet picks on the working man who pays their tax on said items.
svmiiller Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I also hear they are trying to ban hunting. Because that is a fish that needs frying too.🤣

I’m a firm supporter of ballot initiatives as an option but they may need to raise their signature threshold if something this asinine can make it on. 1
