This series to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy. Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts. This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world.  

To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well!

The Romeo y Julieta Petit Corona has none of the cache of its vitola or even marca brethren. How often do you come across someone smoking a Romeo y Julieta Petit Corona? Montecristo 4......all the time!

 

I am a huge fan of the Romeo y Julieta Petit Corona. I love the flavour richness of the cigar. I am not a fan of its dubious construction failure rate however. If you can pick this box in person, I would pick it up over any other. The Monte 4 and the R&J PC are the only Petit Corona I need in my life.

A ton of high-visibility, high-volume competition has kept this guy as something of a sleeper over the years. Before the craziness, I always had a couple of boxes in storage. Wish they were still there! Solid cigar and historically a price performer.

I can say this one of the very few current production Cubans I have not tried or really even seen talked about. I'm curious to see members' thoughts.

Meh. Prefer the H. Upmann PC. The RyJ Petit Corona is a 'don't expect much' contender. I've a 2016 box and will be my last of these I think. Only a fiver or so in.

I would like to know how the Romeo y Julieta Petit Corona differs from a Club King, Romeo No.2, Cedros de Luxe no.3 and the Mille Fleur. They’re all the same size (I appreciate the Cedros de Luxe No.3 and Romeo No.2 are in contact with cedar spills which may impart some flavour 🤷‍♂️) But is there a noticeable difference in flavour between the five? If you’ve smoked one/two have you kind of smoked them all?

I’ve not had a PC but I have enjoyed Romeo No.2s - real easy smoke, middle of the road, probably a bit one dimensional.

Have smoked them all over many years. Keep in mind our palates are all different. 

An excellent Romeo y Julieta Petit Corona has an element of palate depth and richness that beats them all. Caveat, the Romeo No.2 and No.3, when "on", have a class that makes you wonder why you don't smoke them more often. Still, if you are looking (as I am) for that Bolivar Petit Corona "dive into the weeds" of Marca DNA, the Romeo y Julieta Petit Corona is the way to go. You just have to nail that well constructed "Rosado" wrapper box.

Same here, to be honest. On the other hand, I've not tried anywhere near enough Romeo y Julieta Petit Coronas over the years to make a fair evaluation, in comparison to other Romeo y Julieta vitolas I prefer.

I have a half smoked 2017 box where every stick so far has that beautiful cherry flavor and every stick has needed some help from a PerfecDraw. It’s an example of the abusive relationship between RyJ and its fans. 🙂
