This is the most perfect example of confirmation bias I’ve read on this forum.

My mind can’t even be wrapped around the idea that there is a palate out there that would take a Guantanamera or a Cohiba Short over a sub $20 Don Carlos EotB or a sub $10 Oliva Serie V Belicoso or even a sub $5 Tatuaje Series P Honduran cigar.

But, I guess that’s why they say there’s no accounting for taste…

I’m not alone.

I will say this. After the initial 30 day rest period, my N7's have a cherry fruit flavor that reminds me of an on point RyJ Exhibicion No. 4, which is one of my favorite cigars. Given what I've heard about EGM, they've got a loooong way to go to get on the Fab 5 level.

And Fab 5 ninfas had it out the gate!

Yeah, I think we all got your point @Hoosh given you've made it clear from the first day 😁

Nobody who's being completely honest to himself can say he's immune to that confirmation bias, neither me nor you mate. 😉

Our tastes don't match and reading some of your previous posts I'm not sure I get what you like or call strength, but that's ok, I don't need to understand it in order to respect it, to each his own. 👍

I often wish NCs did it for me too because it would be easier and a lot less expensive, but many who were born and raised with CCs like me just can't.

I'm in @Lucas Buck's team 🧐.

And thank God for Fabrica 5

Just to clarify, I think you mean you only like Cubans but not NC, then put thank God for Fabrica 5?

Odd, isn't it?

To make it clearer, I'm not a CC snob, I like NCs too, just like I like superhero movies, but it's not where I'm headed when I want a deeper experience. Many were fairly enjoyable but none of those I've smoked were truly magnificent. To my taste anyway, which I'm not saying is objective.

On the other hand, Fab 5 cigars are the first ones that blew me away, they're NCs tailor-made for CC lovers, I could smoke them on a daily basis which is not the case with any of the other NCs I've had.

So, Team Lucas.

You prefer a machine made Quintero to a BR Roberts 109? That’s what I understood Team Lucas prefers.

And you misunderstood, I'm very well aware that BR and Fabrica5 cigars are NCs, in fact they probably are the only NCs that I've had so far that can compete with CCs for me.

When I said I'm in Team Lucas I only meant that CCs are above all else for me too. I wish I was clearer, I still need to improve my English 😅

Way better than my French!

Maybe The Leader of Team Lucas can verify that he does indeed prefer a Quintero over a BR 109. It will save me money as a bonus if that’s the case.

My enjoyment of cigars doesn’t revolve around a competition between CCs and NCs. It is a matter of bias that I enjoy cigars that are stronger and bolder, rather than marshmallowy and dessert like. In fact, when I see a company describe their cigars in such a way, I stay as far away as possible (Ezra Zion, I’m talking to you).

What I don’t do, however, is abjectly say I’ll only smoke a LFD Double Ligero or JdN Antaño or (trying to think of a garbage NC comparable to the Cohiba Shorts) some Banana flavored Backwoods over a CC any day

One’s palate is their palate, but to backhandedly imply there are no good or worthwhile NCs is just wonky -at best. (And I’m speaking about NCs other than Fab5 here. I offered up three alone in my last post.)

I’m not team anybody. I’m team realist and if you close your mind to a given group of cigars because the ones you’ve tasted didn’t fit your desired profile and then sorta backhandedly slag on others that do enjoy those, well, we’ll just have to, in the best way possible, agree to disagree.

And as a note, I’m not jumping off a bridge because others are and I don’t want to be alone…

Smoke them daily is exactly what I do, the Fab 5 provides me an excellent cigar, at a price I can smoke everyday without bankrupting myself. I could never smoke decent Cubans at the rate I smoke simply on cost alone.

Don't get me wrong, when i fancy something that feels a bit more special with a fancy band, I will smoke a nice Cuban or a decent NC, Padron, My Father, Fuente, Foundation, etc.

But in the morning when I jump in the van with a coffee and light up for the drive to work that Spada Gorda or Robusto Trinity just hits the spot.

Some of your previous posts made me think that was exactly what you were saying about CCs (calling them marshmallowy or dessert like doesn't help either) but I was probably lost in translation.

That's alright mate, glad you made it clearer 👍

The very act of smoking is subjective and biased in the literal sense. Let the man smoke MM's or Farmies or prison rolls if that's what brings them joy. Lol. However, if you drew a line in the sand and a Tatuaje or OSV was on the other side, I imagine you would find a larger cloud of smoke.

EGM releasing a Ninfa is yet one more confirmation that Fab 5 is becoming the new standard and North Star in the NC market. I personally love EGM's marketing. It's sticky and brilliant. I couldn't find any real credible reviews or info for the longest time to justify their price $$$. However, I caved in and took matters into my own hands, purchasing a 3 pact of Bleco Tubes. Not bad. Light Honey and Cream. Cedar and hay. Slight white pepper. Will enjoy smoking the rest and keeping an eye out on the company.

I do love a Quintero now and then but have never had a BR. I have now smoked maybe a couple dozen Fab5 and I must say some have been pretty enjoyable. Still don’t scratch that itch though. Smoked more NC last year than I have in 20+ years. I want to like them. Why wouldn’t I? They just don’t do it for me. Even the ones I used to love before finding Cubans are lackluster to me now. They lack the complexity, refined flavors and finesse of Cubans. I can’t describe it any better than that.

Anyway, to each their own - smoke what you like and like what you smoke. For people like myself, @Li Bai and countless others - well, we prefer Cuban cigars.
