16:8

This can certainly help reduce intake. Some dudes I know swear it's magic, but then they drink stout and whiskey like water, so not much caloric reduction.

ready oats

So, this can be -not good- as depending on exactly the process of making them 'ready' as then oats can be absorbed like sugar, and if you're hungry after 30m, that sounds like what is happening.

Find some steel cut oats (or at least rolled oats) and look into overnight soaks or crockpot oats or batch 2-4 days at a time as cooking will take a minute. I'm guessing you're making this with skim or 2%, but I think you're UK-based and that would be weird, but gotta check all the boxes. A little fat will help in processing and absorbing all the healthy junk in those less processed oats.

You may also want to look the ingredients of your PB and look for an option that is very low sugar to help with staying full on less quantity, or just go to raw or at least low salt almonds and maybe some dried berries/grapes/stone fruits in there as fiber will help drop some weight as well.

Go get'em boys!!! I failed two consecutive years on the Fat Bastid comp. Last time was '20 or '21. But something clicked for me in 2024. It didn't happen overnight, heck, it's still a work in pro

Oh, lots to do with both of those things! Diet wise, I didn't follow anything but 500 calorie deficit a day. But nothing specific, just a 3500 reduction a week (1lbs a week loss from that).  Alco

My apologies as my attempt at humor has come off as ignorant and rude. Ready oats were a staple for most of my childhood. Truth be told, I am skipping breakfast for this challenge all together. I am doing 16:8 intermittent fasting- basically you choose an 8 hour span to do your eating and take the other 16 hours off. People swear that the large gap of time without food does something magical to the body… but I think all that really happens is it makes it harder to consume mass calories as you can only eat within the window. We’ll see how it turns out.

I have done 16:8 for years and it works. It's not magical...just you aren't stuffing calories early in the day :lol3:

Work out a way to do 1000 calorie burn a day. Walking/resistance mix. Roughly 90 minutes. Combine that with the 16:8 and you are hard pressed most days to go over 1800 calories even on a night out.

I will share my recipe for skinny espresso vodka martinis this weekend. 125 calories a drink. Wicked ;)
