Looks very interesting but a little more context here would be helpful.

For the top graph - number of different box codes - what’s this represent? Ones you’ve bought? Ones you’ve counted in the wild? Something else?

And for the bottom, what’s the numerator and denominator to come up with those %? What’s it represent exactly? I’m assuming you geofenced Havana and it’s #factories in Havana / #total factories…if that’s the case, off the top of my head it would make sense that more rural factories have closed over the last couple years due to power grid and other issues.

I can imagine this was a lot of work to gather all this data so thanks for putting it together and sharing!

I obtained the boxcodes from my own collection, BR, CC purchases here, German purchases in Forums and various visited casas in Europe visited by me. The database is very extensive.

The diagram above shows the number of different Fabrica codes found in each year.

For the second diagram I identified the factories in and around Havana based on the corresponding factories in the codelist here at FOH and assigned them as percentages. I could break this down for each individual factory, including the brands and formats produced there over the last 20 years.

I am working on this for 2 years now. The database is growing weekly and I hope to have identified 10k boxes soon.

I think you hit the nail on the head! And I'm sure some of the infrastructure damage from hurricanes during those time period have also affected where leaf ends up.

With this data, could you create a table of "Mother Factories"?

I already did. What's showed by AI is just rough.

Do you mind sharing that table? I can't find it here. I wonder if it would be neat to have an online tool where anyone could punch in their box code and get back the factory and if it's a mother factory as 'yes/no'.

I had a very similar idea once. I discussed it with Dave dude and I also wanted it to indicate if someone else had punched in an identical box code previously / perhaps registering of individual boxes by owner.

I thought this would be even more thorough than existing counter measures on Habanos's website. (It would also check against valid box codes being duplicated or reused.)

I did this extensive work to identify counterfeits. It's becoming increasingly difficult. Making the list online would render it meaningless in this regard. It would even help the counterfeiters—as already happened with the list of all box codes, which still contains errors and is incomplete.

You can ask me anytime for specific codes.
