Puros Y Vino Posted Tuesday at 01:09 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:09 PM JS has certainly tarnished his own name. But this video IMO excels at explaining the whole process. He nailed this. 1

Popular Post ha_banos Posted Tuesday at 07:29 PM Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 07:29 PM That video where's he's brushing plume off a Monte 2...all over his open humidor. Classic. Wish I'd saved it. 5 1 1

When writing/reviewing for Shankin's Wine Spectator magazine, he got caught receiving favours for his 90's wine ratings. IIRC, Shankin did a bit of a sting op on him. Got some vintners to prod him and he took the bait. 3
avaldes Posted Tuesday at 08:19 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:19 PM I showed this video to my 18 year old son and he was impressed/ Cigar Aficionado and Wine Spectator are both influenced by advertisers. You have to take those ratings with a grain of salt and make up your own mind. My tastes tended to align more with Robert Parker, but even then it's not 100%. That said, this cigar video was very enjoyable. 2

He’d done some truly great journalistic bits on Cuba in the early days of CA. You have to give him that. Unrivalled, thinking of him whatever one may. Also Marvin Shanken. Obviously can’t do it without a certain amount of pomp and snobbery (perhaps needed for the biz?) and often coming across a tad too condescending for my personal liking, in particular lately. But his early interviews with people in the industry - still today great sources of historical information. Compare that with today’s standards. 5
Ford2112 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago An old classic, I got my mom to watch it with me. She said she got goosebumps when he mentioned the backbone of cigars is the people. It is so true. How I hope to visit Havana someday. 2
