Report: Blue Jays land Tyler Rogers on 3-year, $37M deal

https://thescore.com/mlb/news/3426037

I thought they would have waited to see who has the hot hand by the deadline. Roger's be printing money for the Jays.

Thoughts on this one from Mets and Giants fans?

Cheers

Sad he didn’t come back with the Giants but I respect him getting paid. Best of luck!

Exactly why not play the game the way LA is. We were the 4th most valuable team in MLB at one point. They cant fork over some contracts and deferred money ? Gotta play to win, gotta beat them at their own game.

The Dodgers are a juggernaut. The Giants have to have a top tier starting staff and pen. We need home grown talent and stars combined. Struck lighting in a bottle those 3 championships. I feel like Posey is willing to do what it takes but the rest of the ownership I'm not sure of. They are still scared because of the Zito contract. Get over it.

Yeah and that’s pretty sad for Posey, these owners just want to profit. Giants are striking out on arms for their bullpen. Not sure how it’s gonna work for them.

Blue Jays making a lot of good moves. Apparently coming close wasn’t enough and they are going all in now while they are close. I hope they can sign Bo.

It's a good move based on his consistency as a submarine pitcher who induces weak contact, groundballs and when hit it is more likely to be a single, so he gives up less total bases. You can't blame him for taking the money. He's another player (other than Diaz) who I would have liked the Mets to have kept for the long-term, but that doesn't seem to be their strategy on relievers so all the best to Tyler Rogers for this deal.

Not worth that kind of scratch. When he is consistent he gets a lot of weak grounders which are sometimes hit so soft nobody can get to them in time for a throw to first. I liked him but he is definitely a set up guy and the 3 batter rule doesn't favor him really. Mets like to throw that cash around don't they!

Yes, well it seems that the Mets have been doing that for a few years but this off-season is different. I don't see them putting out a long-term big deal for a free agent this season. (Of course, I could be wrong.) I agree that that Tyler Rogers' new contract with the Blue Jays is a little exorbitant, but the Jays, Orioles and Phillies have put up the bucks this off-season so far.

I would figure the Mets will make a move or 2.

Probably yes, via trades. At the moment, they're obviously 'clearing house' of a core group of players whose team dynamic turned toxic in the second half of 2025, for whatever reason that the club officials won't confirm for us (obviously) but where ex-players like Adam Ottavino will. So understanding that, we can make better sense of why these long-term players have left.
