El Presidente Posted Saturday at 09:05 PM Posted Saturday at 09:05 PM Our Columbo threads are meant as group learning pieces for those newer to the Cuban Cigar world. This is where more experienced members lend newer members a hand. Today's box is sealed. This box is up for auction in Florida and will likely receive some decent bidding. What are the red flags? Vintage sealed box of 25 Lanceros cigars, marked "Legitimo Tabaco Importado de La Habana, Cuba." The box features the iconic Cohiba Indian head silhouette over a tobacco leaf motif, bordered in gold with the official Habanos seal and Cuban warranty stamp visible. The bottom of the box is stamped "Hecho en Cuba" and "Habanos S.A." with additional branding indicating handmade Cuban origin. Box unopened with seal intact.
JohnS Posted Saturday at 09:10 PM Posted Saturday at 09:10 PM The red flags here are the seal and the wood on the back of the box, which are anachronistic. In other words, they look very young for something advertised as a vintage box.
NYGuido Posted Saturday at 09:20 PM Posted Saturday at 09:20 PM Would these have no box code on the bottom? Or are there older boxes without this?
Chas.Alpha Posted Saturday at 09:29 PM Posted Saturday at 09:29 PM The wood also seems to have been split and glued back at some point prior to assembling the box. Possibly not even the same piece of wood… Box wrapper shows signs of re-gluing, especially at the top.
