FOHgetaboutit Posted Thursday at 02:12 PM Posted Thursday at 02:12 PM Thanks for all the efforts gents!
Stevieboy Posted Thursday at 05:03 PM Posted Thursday at 05:03 PM Search Current Auctions...the menu is missing SCdlH and VR. (Some entries aren't alphabetical.) EDIT: I've just realised only available brands are in the list. Actually, this is a great idea as it saves looking for unavailable marcas. 1
zacca Posted Thursday at 08:16 PM Posted Thursday at 08:16 PM @ATGroom not to pile on, but just documenting some thoughts for the backlog… 1) ability to show more results per page (ie, 50, All). I much prefer scrolling continuously vs clicking “next” 2) when you go into the Advanced Search, you lose the ability to sort the results. Eg, ending soonest, recently listed, etc. 3) ability to search by both marca AND vitola is crucial - especially when looking at previously sold items 4) could be just me not being used to the new interface, but in the hamburger menu it would be nice to have a “Listings” link, as was on the previous site. I know from the home page there’s “featured listings” when you scroll down, but from a UX standpoint, if you’re clicking and navigating to messages and other places of the site, it’s nice to be able to get back to the listings with a simple click or 2.
unaslob Posted Friday at 09:14 PM Posted Friday at 09:14 PM Alex. Thanks for the tip on where to search recently sold. This is much pretty then the old version! Can really look back far. Thank you.
Marrduk24 Posted Saturday at 12:10 PM Posted Saturday at 12:10 PM So having played around with the new interface, issues I see: Seems like bugs 1. When I search for previously sold lots of Quai d'Orsay, nothing shows up 2. When I search for previously sold lots of any marca in general and say 50 results show up, if I click on any one of them and then go back, I should go back to my search results. But it doesn’t end I have to run the search again. This is annoying Design issues 1. Not being able to only search for boxes that are physically in the USA - this is a major miss 2. There are two ways to search for previously sold lots. - specifically include previously sold lots when searching for current auctions - searching under previously sold lots : this has a lot fewer filters and largely not helpful I am sure a lot of work went into redesign and you guys will surely fix all these issues. But as of right now I would rather take back the old interface. 2
Fireball Posted Saturday at 03:42 PM Posted Saturday at 03:42 PM The site looks great and @ATGroom has a handle on the few loose ends. Good job! 1

JPark3 Posted Sunday at 02:25 AM Posted Sunday at 02:25 AM I know it's already been acknowledged, but just wanted to add yet another "narrow location to certain country" request. Aside from that, I dig the new site. Well done! 3
zacca Posted Sunday at 07:49 AM Posted Sunday at 07:49 AM EDIT: disregard; clarified below by @smashed Leaving up for reference in case it’s relevant for anyone else to see it’s a non-issue. ———————————— Here’s one that definitely wasn’t present on the previous site. If you place an initial bid, what’s shown to the public is your max bid. Old site: if I’m first to bid and there was no minimum opening, if I bid $500, it would simply say 1 bid / $1. If opening bid was set at $300, it would say 1 bid / $300 new site: in the example above, it now says 1 bid / $500.
smashed Posted Sunday at 09:10 PM Posted Sunday at 09:10 PM @ATGroom @El Presidente I've already emailed, but please, for the love of everything almighty, put something explicit in the FAQ (as most every website/auction house/etc has listed somewhere) about import fees/duties being 100% the sole responsibility of the buyer. Despite the massive widespread coverage in the USA of de minimus and the $800 threshold being removed since late August, and most buyers of anything on other websites already being full aware that this is their responsibility, I've got guys on BR completely dumbfounded on this and have to explain it every single time. Even worse, I have one guy getting snappy with me now (whilst his package is in the States ready for delivery) and insinuating I'm somehow a scammer and is seemingly refusing to pay the incredibly small tariff to clear his package. He literally is getting hostile and telling me I'm 'on notice'. So I can't wait for the assuredly negative feedback he's probably going to leave me and you'll have to revise for me. BR doesn't allow any 'descriptions', the only area for that is under storage conditions, and any time I've ever tried to write a tidbit about anything pertaining to shipping there, BR Admins deleted it (understandably). So I can't do anything to inform them prior to bidding. It would be highly beneficial if I could just send anyone who questions this, straight to the FAQ. It would alleviate a lot of potential issues. or honestly, an email reminding everyone of this would possibly be beneficial to the platform as well, as US guys are SO used to having no tariffs (due to their packages being declared under $800 in the past) it would perhaps be smart to do that as well. As practically all the US guys say the same thing to me, that 'I'm not used to this on any of my past purchases'. Which makes sense, as this is new. 2

As the reserve isn't met anyway, so your max bid is shown, as it's not a bid which will result in a sale anyways. It won't auto bid you up to max if there's no reserve or the reserve has already been met. At least this is my understanding and what I've experienced on my own auction's bidding. 1

In the design it was continuous but we didn't pick up that it hadn't been implemented as testing was always smaller scale than the full firehose of the live site. If your max bid is under the reserve, the current bid jumps to your max bid. If your max bid is over the reserve, the current bid will be the reserve. If you have the highest max bid and there is another bidder, then your max bid is going to be $5 higher than their bid. With the old site if you had a max bid over the reserve, the current bid would stay at $5 over the next highest bidder even if that price was under the reserve, but it would say "reserve price met" to indicate that the lot would sell because your max bid was over the reserve. When the lot closed, the bid would jump up to match the reserve. This led to regular complaints of "I was winning the lot at $1000 with reserve met and nobody bidding against me, how come it jumped at the last second to $1400 you crooks are driving up the prices artificially." We hoped the new system would be clearer. 2 2

You should be receiving the daily new listings emails and some people definitely are. Will investigate. Unfortunately the watchlist preferences didn't get ported over as the new system is not really compatible with the old one. On the plus side, you can now add a "keyword" field in to watch for which will allow you to get alerts for specific years and box codes which was a very often requested feature for the old site. 1 1
painfreefishing Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM On the old system i have been the highest bidder but at a bid that was below the reserve price. Would an option to allow the "winning" bidder to pay the reserve price at the close of the auction in lieu of just not actually winning the bid make sense? I am new to auctions so if I am missing information here please educate me.

I am new to auctions so if I am missing information here please educate me. On both the old and the new system, if the auction closes without reaching the reserve, the seller has an option to offer it to the high bidder at their bid. I.e., if the reserve was $1000 and you had bid $950, the seller might decide that that is good enough and offer it to you at $950. I think what you're saying is that if the reserve is $1000 and it closes at $950 then you should have a second chance to pay the $1000? While we could do it that way, I think the existing way makes more sense. While the auction is open it says whether or not the reserve has been met, so you would know you hadn't hit the reserve as soon as you placed the $950. If you are willing to pay more you should increase your bid then and win it the old fashioned way.
FOHgetaboutit Posted yesterday at 04:20 AM Posted yesterday at 04:20 AM I miss having a back button. When looking at an auction the old UI had a back button which would take you back to where you were within your search parameters. Now I have to hit back (on mobile Firefox browser) and sometimes it clears the search parameters and I have to start all over again.

Luisb Posted yesterday at 11:45 AM Posted yesterday at 11:45 AM A few bugs I found during the weekend: Messages are not working for me on mobile. Chrome/IOS. Search either in the advance search or Search Sold slots is working for me. I'm not receiving emails with new listings too. Thanks 1
Luisb Posted yesterday at 12:00 PM Posted yesterday at 12:00 PM Has there been any change to the rules for boxes to be listed? Specifically regarding age issues. I may not have received the email.

Thank you - I just checked to make sure it wasn't the connection between the seat and keyboard haha - I think it have it selected but will hold tight while you look into. I like the keyword add for the watchlist - if we can add country or even the "ship to me" as an additional filter in the future that would be awesome. Thanks for all your work on this.
