CaesarM Posted September 24 Posted September 24 I scrounged up this old username from the late ‘90s because if any of you old dudes are still around, maybe you’ll remember me from CA or other more private forums. I spent some time going through old introductions from back in 2006 to the present and see a few handles I recognize. Some background. Smoked exclusively Habano cigars until the dreaded letter came in 2008. Along with a flat empty box from my sister in Gibraltar. Was left with a coolador full of El Dentes. Ah, the good old days. Then life got weird and I stopped smoking cigars. Here is how I put it on Reddit r/cigars: I started up last year and because of the incredible jump in prices, I cannot justify buying Cuban cigars, except for a deal or two or three that I have come across. So I came to this forum and began my search for something to take the place of the Habano experience. I have kissed a lot of toads looking for my princess. I have found a couple that are enjoyable, but none that fully scratch the itch. Sure, there are high-end sticks that could come close, but if I’m spending $400-$600 or more for a box, I’ll visit my favorites from that island to the south. Then someone here mentioned that I should try Fabrica5. I bought a couple 5 packs to see if they could satisfy. Grabbed a 5 of Puro Desnudo Petite Coronas and MOFOH Sovereign Suns. They are not exactly what I get from a RASS or H. Upmann or RyJ, but very reminiscent. Not a Partagas or Bolivar, Trinidad or ERDM, but a kind of kissing cousin. I could really smoke these on a regular basis and save the “special ones” in my humidor for my peak experience times. You can find me on Reddit under the name u/DichotimusRex.
