Popular Post 99call Posted May 5, 2025 Popular Post Posted May 5, 2025 The 80th anniversary of 'Victory in Europe' will take place on the 8th, with celebrations beginning today. My Grandfather manned AA guns in the battle of Britain, and later fought in Burma. My Grandmother (still with us) drove an ambulance during the Blitz, “Just like Queen Elizabeth did!” she never forgets to remind us. I’m hugely proud of their sacrifice and service, and my feelings will be shared by 100s of 1000s of families all over the world who have heros of their own. They to have my gratitude, admiration and respect. We say "Lest We Forget”, that obviously is centred on the lives of those who fought and gave everything, but it also is a calling to remember the reasons why?…Why it was necessary?. On the 8th May fascism was defeated with the courage of those who would not back down to the intimidation and fear of evil tyrants. Fascism is fuelled by hate, weakness and fear. On the 8th of May love was victorious. Love of freedom, love of country, love of family and love of your fellow man. "When the generation that survived the war is no longer with us, only then will we discover if we have learned from history.” Angela Merkel 12 4
