TheDonTX Posted April 15 Posted April 15 As we get closer to the competition smokes arriving, what are your plans for storage? Separate humidor? RH? Drybox? Anyone OCD enough to not let the cigars touch each other? I know we have “throw everything in one humidor no regard for age or codes” guys and we have “excel spreadsheet handling cigars with white glove” guys. I can find myself overthinking things as this rabbit hole hobby has rabbit holes within itself. Yeah, I am looking at you vacuum sealing rabbit hole, that's been on my mind for years, but I haven't gone down yet but maybe will at some point. Ugh, am I really about to look up vacuum sealers right now? No, back to the post damn it. Stop it brain! But yes I myself fall somewhere in the middle of the two listed above but lean a little towards excel spreadsheet OCD guy lol. Very excited for this! Wondering what ya’ll are gonna do? 3
eaglebear29 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I’ll just keep them in my cold room in their own container at with a 58% since my humidity runs high here outside and in the rest of the house. I have to run a dehumidifier as I live in a temperate rainforest. I couldn’t really do a dry box if I wanted to. I have to put them in the dehumidifier room and sometimes open boxes a little at a time to let the humidity out if I want it lower for my dry boxing. Or just let them sit with 58-65s depending on how over saturated the Bovedas are. Constantly tinkering with variables here. It’s fun though, I think I’m getting a better hold of it here. Everything I’ve been sent has been with 65s so there’s not much of a change going on between what I’ve got going on here and how it shows up after travel. I’m just gonna keep it simple but would like to know if others have different methods as well cause it’s always fun to learn more. Personally if I were you, I’d just go with what normally works for you in bringing out the best flavors based on your past experiences and with what works in your area/climate. I get the part of wanting to get it just right though and hear others experiences as well.

From experience with this competition...nothing is going to help 1. Throw them in your humidor. 2. your first guess is normally your best. 3. say a little prayer. 3 12
