Cigar Journal's Top "New" cigars for 2024

I think CA should follow what CJ is doing with their TOP 25 cigars. CA should only review new cigars for the top 25 each year instead of listing some classic cigars that have been around for 10+ years.

I would give them more credit if I saw Nudies in their top 5. But then again, I'm far from being their target audience.

Cigar No. 4 the Davidoff Maduro Toro is an excellent smoke.

Only one that I am familiar with.

It goes to show just how many new cigars are released in a year when we only reviewed 12 out of their 25 in 2024. With that said, I think there are some gems in there.

• Cohiba Riviera Lancero. I liked it, Aaron did not
• Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco Corona Extra.  The Robusto Gordo is the best vitola IMO coming in at #2 on our Top 25 list.  The Corona Extra was good but not as good.
• Aladino Fuma Noche Super Toro. I wasn't as high on it as the other guys but it landed #9 on our Top 25 list
• A.J. Fernandez Brazil. I wasn't that high on it but landed #17 on our Top 25 list
• Perdomo 30th Anniversary Connecticut Torpedo. I was higher on this than the other guys, landed #24 on our Top 25 list.
  • Perdomo Connecticuts are sneaky strong.

I've smoked #25. I didn't smoke #24 because I didn't think it was going to be very good. #23 is a company I was not aware of. #22 is a European brand I believe. #21 I've smoked a number of Y Panda offerings. #20 I've smoked a ton of Villiger offerings, just not the Nicaroma.  #19 smoked the Lonsdale version which was Ecuadorian CT wrapper, thought it was tasty. #18 thought it was tasty.  #17 have smoked Platinum Novas in the past for review. #16 Chinese company haven't smoked them yet.  #15 - Davidoff of London exclusive I believe? As such, no.

I have the 1 and 2 picks in my humidor as well as the #25 pic. I’ve been eyeballing the #3 pick at my local BM for awhile but just have not decided to get one yet. The #25 los statos, I’ve tried already. Not sure I really like it.
