Map of Cigar Factories in Cuba by Alexander Groom

Alex put this together earlier in the year and it is in our ReFOHrence section.

I think it's a pretty good map, personally.😁 

It took a lot of research but it has the location of many of the regional factories which are very off the beaten path for tourists so hard to find too much about.

Anybody with boots on the ground in Cuba who wants to add to it or refine some of the locations please get in touch.

Great resource. I'd highly recommend a visit to a despalillo where you get to see much of the pre-industry process!

The Google map linked in this thread was originally prepared for the graphics guy who created the Havana Map in El Habano Moderno (that's why it includes some stuff like the fortresses, and various Havana landmarks. Aside from El Laguito the factories are mostly clustered in the centre of Havana and he wanted some more items to make the map look a bit more evenly spread out). 

The full island map in EHM is based on this one below that appears in a few catalogues in the 1970s. In between when EHM was published and today, I did a lot more research on the regional factories and facilities and added them to the map I had previously used just for the Havana locations. In the event that I ever do another book with a map in it, then I will use that updated Google map for the full island map so it should be much more detailed, accurate and current as far as the present-day locations of factories in provinces go.

Very interesting! I had a hunch there was some connection between the El Habano Moderno map and the google map. And that map from the 1970s is awesome part of this too! Thanks for filling in the blanks Alex.

Amazing work Mr. Groom! As someone is bit of a completionist would love to visit every last one!
