A busy week in work let up slightly by Friday and I took the opportunity to bring a Cuban Petit Corona to work and slip out at lunchtime.

I de-banded it and lit before cutting. Once cut, the opening revealed a perfect draw and copious smoke output that continued to pulse out smoke even when the stick was just resting away on its stand.

I paired it with a pint of Titanic Brewery's Plum Porter, which is a lovely drop. Look at the way the head clings to the glass for extra satisfaction.

First third had flavours of condensed milk and honey - very impressive. It wasn't long before I could feel some light effects of the nicotine.

The richness of the stick combined with the richness of the plum porter was a fine heady rush.

Second third brought a flavour that reminded me of Christmas and I can best describe as honey-roast cashew nuts. There was some taste of spice as well but that may have originated partly from the plum porter. But they were working beautifully together so still a valid part of the overall experience!

The flavours strengthened as the final third came into view. Some woodiness entered the profile at this stage. This detracted slightly from the level of the opening three quarters of an hour but the smoke was still enjoyable, particularly following a quick purge. There was also a pretty powerful buzz off it by this point.

After exactly one hour I laid it to rest. Certainly one of the better ways to see off a lunch break! Not a single relight or touch up was required either. A solid 90 pointer.

I always feel the same way when I see you out for a couple of pints of Guinness with a stick! 😍
