Henry Ford was thrilled until he got an invoice from General Electric in the amount of $10,000. Ford acknowledged Steinmetz’s success but balked at the figure. He asked for an itemized bill.

Steinmetz responded personally to Ford’s request with the following:

Knowing where to make mark $9,999.

Ford paid the bill.

I think you misunderstood. The point is to pay the right person. When it comes to financial advice do some solid research and find someone that does fee per service, you pay $X and get whatever advice you paid for. If you’ve been going to anyone that’s charging you a commission you’re not buying knowledge, you’re being sold a product by a salesperson.
