El Presidente Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things. The people who started university this year were generally born in 1986. They are too young to remember the Challenger space shuttle blowing up. Their lifetime has always included AIDS. Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic. The CD was introduced the year before they were born. They have always had an answering machine They cannot fathom not having a remote control. They never took a swim and thought about Jaws. They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is. They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter. Do you feel old yet? (Sorry) Pass this on to the other old fogies on your list. Notice the larger type, that's for those of you who have trouble reading.
Tampa1257 Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Have the attendant bring around my wheelchair please!
JMH Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I think it would be so weird knowing that you're already more than halfway through your life. I love speaking to my grandparents about stuff they did when they were my age (18). Queensland start school a year later than nsw don't they? Not looking forward to uni here...
genevapics Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 » I think it would be so weird knowing that you're already more than halfway » through your life. I love speaking to my grandparents about stuff they did » when they were my age (18). How will you know when you are halfway through with your life? Don't assume that you have your whole life ahead of you. You could be there already... even at the young age of 18! So, does it still feel weird? Remember, "Tomorrow is promised to no man." As you ponder that thought for a moment, have a habano and enjoy life. You've got many years ahead of you my young friend!:-D
JMH Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 » How will you know when you are halfway through with your life? Don't » assume that you have your whole life ahead of you. You could be there » already... even at the young age of 18! lol, that's my excuse for enjoying life as much as I can :-D If I did die tomorrow, I would die happy. I've done a lot of stuff in my life - I've travelled a lot, I've partied hard, have done a bit of work here and there, and have a lot of great mates and family. » So, does it still feel weird? Remember, "Tomorrow is promised to no » man." Yeah it does feel a bit weird, I've questioned life and death a bit, there are no answers that I can find. I've come close to death once and it's scary, but a hell of a rush, it really lets you know that you're alive. » As you ponder that thought for a moment, have a habano and enjoy life. » You've got many years ahead of you my young friend!:-D I love to have a nice cigar in one hand, a nice beer in the other, sit out on the balcony and watch the harbour and the sun set. So here's to life! Cheers *glasses clinking*

Taino Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 ...now this is not a nice post at all!!!, besides has nothing to do with cigars... I urge my fellow cigar posters to stand up in a riot and take this forum...
Mel Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 » ...now this is not a nice post at all!!!, besides has nothing to do with » cigars... I urge my fellow cigar posters to stand up in a riot and take » this forum... Hey Taino, do you have as many nice cigars as El Prez. does? If not I can not riot with you I must stay with the estsablishment. As to the half life over thought: I have patients that come in here and ask if such and such dental work will last their lifetime? I tell them that depends on when they die. I then say if you die soon it certainly will last a lifetime.;-) I try to make up for my age(47) with additional immaturity.:-D
Wiley Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Hey Rob, are you going to be pissed if I call you an *******? Because quite honestly, you deserve it! ****! I was feeling old enough already...
Mel Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 » Hey Rob, are you going to be pissed if I call you an *******? Because » quite honestly, you deserve it! » Hell he knows he's an ass, but we love him anyway. »
Loki Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I think I'll change my name to Thantos. The Incarnation of Death must be a nice guy. :-D When your time comes I'll be there to pick you up stick a cigar in your mouth and lead you to Purgatory. ;-)
Maverick Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Rob, I am 24, so born in 1981 not long before 1986. » They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even . I still don't have a clue who the hell J.R is and what significance his death brought to the Television community, I hear a number of people prattle on about it. » They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter. I am a wizz on the old typewriter, but alas haven't seen one for many many years, Dad used to have one of those fancy electric typrwriters that had a built in whiteout thingy so we were flash. But I guess this isn't the thread to mention that I feel old this year, given that it has been 7 years since I finished high school and still not a big exec! Plus I am now getting more grey hairs, not sure yet if this correlates to getting married??????? Ross...
korryp Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 For some reason I've always figured I was born old.
