El Presidente Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 I certainly have "smart glasses" on the radar for 2025. Given the way I work, on the surface, they make sense as a tool. Hamlet has used his Ray Ban smart glasses for some time and loves them. Your experiences? recommendations? There are new ones coming out almost monthly. As a reference for those new to the subject. The tech giants are racing to create augmented reality glasses that look like normal eyewear. Startup Even Realities is taking a solid step in that direction with the G1. They combine optical and display lenses using a special eco-friendly adhesive that seamlessly bonds the two without increasing thickness. Working with a companion app, they offer real-time translation, directions, notification display with a lift of the head, hidden teleprompter features, and typical AI assistant chores like note-taking and recall. The lightweight frames adopt a classic panto silhouette and have touchpads on the earpieces to activate the microphones, reducing the risk of unwanted listening.
Shakey Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Don’t use them regularly myself but have tried a few kinds and the Ray-Ban gen 2 seems to be the best so far. Others seem to have shorter battery life and cameras that don’t work as well. 1
cnov Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 One of my mates has some and he looks like a tool, love him dearly but he has an obsession with the latest gadget. I'd rather move further away from technology than put it on my face. 1

Puros Y Vino Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Google Glass saw a rise in people with glasses getting punched in the face. I suspect this trend will pick up.😁 While I like the tech, I hate the application of it in public. Every smart phone is already a surveillance device, add this to the mix and you've increase the data quality 100 fold. There are good applications in non-public facing industries for these. If I ever walk into a shop and I see staff with these, I'm walking out. 1
