Tunkat92 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Initial Thoughts/Cold Draw: Nice slightly toothy wrapper, not much oil. The cigar seems nice packed and proper weight. Cold draw was nice chocolate notes and herbs, the draw seems a little too snug. 1/3: It took awhile to get the foot toasted, but it finally got a good light. The initial puffs are chocolate, malty chocolate, with a smooth creamy retro. There is earthy undertone I can’t quite pin down. Its adds a nice finish to the slightly sweeter chocolate notes. Strength picks up near the end of this third and the retro gets a white pepper to it. 2/3: The earthy notes are picking up. I am starting to get some leather and yeast bread notes. It seems this cigar has developed an identity crisis, if I smoked this cigar completely blind I would be stumped. The amount of Cuban twang that has developed is really nice though, but it seems have a lot going on and nailing down a profile is tough. 3/3: Coming into the last third, there is still a lot going on, but I am getting some delineation of notes. Leather, yeasty bread, sort of tannic up front and a bitter chocolate/ coffee note at the end. The retro is very nice creamy with a touch of spice. It really compliments the profile. Final Thoughts: Construction is great, sharp burn line, zero relights, great draw after the first half inch. Profile is very muddled and was hard to fine a definition at times. I believe this cigar will age great and I most definitely smoked it too early. 89/100 points. 3
rcarlson Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 This is tough. Will say R&J Churchill. Chocolate is confusing. 1
CubanChomper Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 I was going to say R&J, so I will go with Cohiba Churchill. 1
MagicalBikeRide Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 I feel like I can see some white on the band sticking out, so I’ll go with R&J 😅 Like @rcarlson though, the chocolate would throw me off - not that I’ve ever found them to be very consistent.
Edicion Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 R&J Churchill as well but was also along the lines of a Punch DC.
Tunkat92 Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 No one guessed this right, honestly I would have a hard time picking it too if I smoked it blind. It was a HU Sir Winston.
