AbasCigar Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 I bought a box of Partagas Serie P no.2 and 2 of the cigars had these shiny dots. What can it be? I've experienced the same thing in a single Bolivar a few years ago. Also: Why does some wrappers taste very bitter? Like even before lighting the cigar. Thanks amigos.
NSXCIGAR Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 Not sure I would describe that as "shiny dots"--more like the remnants of the cigar glue or something else wet that contacted the cigar. Don't think I can help on this one. 3
El Presidente Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 I can only guess it is a spill of some thought. Wrapper tastes bitter? At the smoking or pre-light? Bitter on all the cigars from the box or only those two? 1

Sauce residue from Beatriz’s Ropa Vieja? Napkins are hard to come by on the island. 2

Groucho. Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 Ropa vieja is usually somewhat a sweet sauce for that meat. The shininess seems to be all over that wrapper. I've seen this before but don't think it caused an issue with flavor. How do these two compare with the rest, non shiny dot cigars, on dry draw before lighting up? 1

Luckily It's not often but it makes me wonder why that could be. Maybe me and my taste buds are the problem? 😅 On 8/2/2024 at 6:30 AM, Groucho. said: Ropa vieja is usually somewhat a sweet sauce for that meat. The shininess seems to be all over that wrapper. I'll smoke one and compare to one that doesn't have these shiny "dots" and let you know. Happy I'm not the only one that experienced this. On 8/2/2024 at 6:43 AM, Chitmo said: Torcedor Sweat! 🤮🤮🤮🤮
SCgarman Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 Whatever it is, it looks disgusting. Those cigars are now what $30 a piece? I would not be happy with that at all. Quality control at its piss poor worst unfortunately. 2

riderpride Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 Looks like some light sap as the cedar may not have been properly treated. Curious 1
