Partyshrts Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 I see R&J Mille Fleurs mentioned a lot on FOH but how about the No.2 tubos? Are these higher quality then MF's? Is there a major difference between these two?
NSXCIGAR Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 RyJ Romeos are what I'd call duty free specials. Quality is most definitely lower than the MF or PC. I will say however that of all the duty free specials (mostly global brand tubos and small Partagas offerings) they are probably my favorite. I would call the Romeos "smokeable" but would almost always pay a couple bucks more for the MF.

Most of the Big Marcas have highly regarded PC's like Boli PC's, PLPC, RASCC, etc..I'm surprised R&J wouldn't have a PC that matches these. Especially considering it's a major Global brand.

My explanation as to why it's not as good as the other brands' offerings is simply that the entire RyJ brand isn't as good as the others and hasn't been for 20 years. Just my personal opinion coming from someone who used to love RyJ until about 2003. If you like RyJ that's great, don't take it the wrong way. Smoke what you like. 2
ha_banos Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 I'm a fan of the RyJ T2. I leave them at least a few years before I go in though. A very nice finish to them. I'm looking at my notes, I've never had a MF. 2

I'm happy with the 2019 MF's I still have a half a box of. I don't want to even know what I paid for them.
Habanoschris Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Not to confuse things, I just wanted to add that I have had some boxes of R&J no. 2 with a surprising amount of pronounced "R&J cherry". So personally, I do like both. 🤷♂️

Expand I should have also mentioned the Cedros de Luxe Nos. 2 & 3 which are actually positioned as the premium 42 RG RyJ. They used to really be exceptional in the old days but every one I've had in the last 20 years has been quite bland and boring. They're very expensive and also quite hard to find and as a result very few people talk about them anymore. I haven't seen them in quite a while actually.

Expand Ditto, much better than their reputation as gas station cigar. In particular recent production. I quite like the Romeo 3, too. Can even pack a punch. 2
Wookie Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Boy do I miss the gold band RyJ Churchills from the mid-late 1990s. 1
