ha_banos Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 There's no way AI can ever be implemented. According to regulations anyway. I've heard EM talking about how AI needs regulation now. Before it's too late. I say it's already too late! AI is already doomed due to regulations! Take Addendum 78: UN Regulation No. 79 https://unece.org/DAM/trans/main/wp29/wp29regs/2017/R079r3e.pdf Because of this the parallel parking assist is disabled on our new car! It's been there on the last 2! It's simple automation compared to anything AI! The dealer had no idea that since 2020 this feature had been gimped when they sold me the car! I want a refund! The crazy thing is that bay parking assist is enabled. Only the parallel parking is disabled. 🤬 They'll disable every aid now? Is this a UK thing or is it global? Considering this is a UN resolution I'm throwing at you. Is it only Mercedes that have been unable to deal with this for 3 years already? .. so much for LEAN manufacturing... Avoid Mercedes! </rant>

gillmiller Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Some people seem confident it’ll keep improving, while others think it’ll always fall short of human judgment and experience. There’s a strong sense that AI lacks intuition, especially in areas where personal taste matters. It can analyze patterns, but it doesn’t actually “understand” in the human sense. That gap is probably why people remain skeptical. https://cleverhumanizer.ai/ai-writer highlights how much effort is going into bridging that gap, at least on the communication side. Even so, tools can only go so far without real human input. The consensus seems to be that AI will assist, but not fully replace.

yuppie Posted May 6 Posted May 6 AI is such a broad term at the moment, it's like saying "Internet". Internet is doomed! It'll be regulated to hell! Well, certain parts of the internet are, but ... In terms of regulation, I'm living in the US and I have plenty of Cuban cigars at my disposal. Those are physical goods, nevermind the digital stuff that can fit terabytes on a USB thumb drive. People that don't use AI are either terrified of it or don't think it can do anything. You need to remember: This is as bad as it'll ever be. It's only going to get better, faster and cheaper from here, just like cell phones in the 1980's. 1
