Hello FOH`ers

Is anyone aware of any cigar friendly bars in Sydney CBD?

Sydney? Smoking?!?!?! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Seriously, though. It is getting harder and harder to find cigar friendly bars in the city.

  • The aptly named Smoke Bar at Barangaroo has a very small smoking area round the side of the rooftop, hidden away from the people who will stare daggers at you while you have a puff. The staff on the other hand are pretty good about it, and will serve you drinks to your tiny table. $$$
  • The Glenmmore Hotel at The Rocks supposedly has a small smoking area on the roof next to the bar.
  • Ni Hao Bar in the Civic Hotel, you can smoke in their indoor/outdoor bar area. A young Asian crowd, that may give you a few odd looks when you whip out a cigar instead of ciggie or vape.
  • The Captain's Balcony in Wynyard. Haven't been here in years.
  • Establishment Bar. Outdoor blacony with a smoking area.
  • Hemmesphere. Above Establishment Bar on level 4.
  • Hotel Sweeney. Has a rooftop bar smoking area often packed with ciggie smokers.
  • Zeta Bar at the Hilton Hotel

But it is always best to call before going, to make sure they still allow smoking.

Out west in Parramatta:

  • Le Cheval at Heritage Lounge. It is a cocktail bar that has an indoor cigar lounge. Seem to be breaking a few rules here on the cigar side of things.
  • Nick & Nora's. Has a small balcony smoking area.
  • Touka, a yakiniku restaurant. Not strictly a bar (though the sake mojito is pretty darn good), but does have an indoor open air courtyard that you can smoke in. Very welcoming and accommodating.

Last time I tried the civic hotel the upstairs bar/courtyard was closed. Did they reopen it?

I usually smoke in the park around the harbour in a quiet spot these days on my layovers in Sydneytown.

The previous restaurant at Civic Hotel, Green Peppercorn, closed down a few years ago. In it's place is Ni Hao Bar. It is styled on the old HK bars/nightclubs pre-1997. They still have the open air courtyard bar to the left of the entrance. Sometimes they ask that you don't smoke until after 9pm, as snacks and drinks are served in the courtyard. Hardly anyone will complain if you light up your cigar, as there are always ciggie and vape smokers in the courtyard.

I have heard the owner of Rouge Bar in Darling Harbour is a cigar smoker and allows smoking there.
