Perhaps they have evolved a bit, we'll see Happy birthday, enjoy! I am smoking a cañonazo now definitely no spice on it with the SG on the mind I believe you’ll start to see a noticeable difference. @Tradesman I believe when you revisit you’ll be pleasantly surprised. I always recommend a trip to Italy while you wait for new cigars to acclimate, solid plan well done!!!

That cigar has tons of thick smoke, tons of flavor on the palate. I'm definitely a fan.

Popular Post Sean62 Posted October 21, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 21, 2023 Mine arrived 8 days ago and I smoked the first one today. Because of the many lukewarm comments I was wondering if I should bring another stick out with me in case I was very disappointed. I wasn't disappointed at all. My favorite cigars are this size, i.e. H Upmann Mag46, Partagas Lusitanias, and I suspect this cigar may become a main cigar for me. The construction was flawless, draw perfect, and the burn perfect. I rarely smoke this size of cigar without a few relights and this one needed no attention. Because of its youth there was some slight bitterness. A black coffee and occasional tiny bits of chocolate helped the slight bitterness and actually made the cigar quite a lovely experience. I am optimistic about the benefit of a little humidor down time and I suspect that the quality will be consistent. They seem to be identical...very well rolled! spada.mp4 8
Sean62 Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 After five weeks rest in my humidor Spada Gorda greatly improved. I ordered another box today. I am convinced these will be a main cigar for me. I smoked a few with a friend who is a connoisseur with 12 years experience and he was also delightfully surprised. Some of them are almost flawless, others requiring a touch up or two and a relight or two. Lately staying medium through the three thirds., and offering delicate flavours and notes...earth...breadiness...coffee. Delightfully subtle and well-behaved in first third, then some work and attention required in middle third, and much less in last third. 1

Coming along very nicely 😉 They needed that time down.... more than Carlota and PC. About the same time down needed as canonazo (60 ish days). Spada has joined PC and Carlota as a regular rotation cigar. We are still learning 👍
Tradesman Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Having the same experience right now. When I first got it I gave it a weak 5/10. Coming back to it 1.5 months later and I've smoked it over Cubans multiple times in a row. Awesome cigar and will be a regular part of the rotation. Petition for the wheels of 50!

Petition for the wheels of 50! We have discussed this at length on our FOH Zoom catchups. Hamlet and I love the tobacco that we are working with but we have only been working with it for the past year (November 2022). There are 5 strains of tobacco that we are playing with currently, all 4+ years of age and properly fermented. The quality is unmatched. We have a special operations unit within the factory that focuses on the Nudies/Desnudo/MOFOH + private blends for the UK, Japan, Malaysia, UAE and the Bond Roberts releases for 2024. What we love about the tobacco is the inherent sweetness in the blends that takes us back to our roots of Cuban tobacco. What we have noticed is that the larger the gauge, the longer the time down required for the cigars to consistently deliver that smooth, mellow mid bodied sweet nuance. Now we are not talking 5 years, but rather 60-90 days. To be honest, we don't know why. They have those lovely honeyed notes straight off the bat/table .....then go into a slumber....and come back in spades with a few months down. Again it is happening in the >46 ring gauge range. ........God I love a journey 6
GVan Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Saw this post return to the main page and pulled the first of my Spada Gordas at exactly 60 days rest. I actually, successfully refrained from smoking one ROTT. The first half was absolutely lovely, burnt perfectly. Black coffee and just smooth - a little darker flavor than the Mareva IV. I did not get any sweetness which I was looking for as the Marevas are now showing that at > 120 days in the humi. The back half of the Spada Gorda was still a little moist, had a few touch-ups, and was mostly just a darker tobacco flavor. Didn't nub this one yet - but it'll get there. Kept them in their packaging in the humi at 65% since I received them -- I need to find a cabinet to continue resting them in for the longer term. After 30 days I found an old NC cabinet that fit for the Canonazos and now that they are > 150 days they are the sweetest (and my favorite) of the current Puro Desnudos line coming out of the humi; at least at this point in time. Number one overall is still the Nudies Maduro Lancero from the 2021 release. I have a hard time keeping my hands off that one as I look into the humi for a cigar. 3

I was very pleased with the notes it showed right up front, and it remained flavorful throughout, to me. It was also my first cigar after being sick for almost a week, so my palate was fresh. Some baking spice, bread, and stone fruit were hiding behind the coffee, but I can tell that these will evolve really nicely. I’ll have another in a few weeks, and again probably another month later, and I look forward to seeing those other flavors emerge. It is amazing what time can do. Truthfully, the 2021 Lanceros rosados I have are far better now than after they first acclimated. Same with my Carlota maduros. Can’t wait to see what comes with a little downtime on these SG’s! Having my second SG here a couple months later and, as predicted, those flavors are no longer hiding. First half showed a lot more richness than before, some dried fruit, honey, and floral notes. Second half is giving me a heavy molasses note with baking spices (divine) and the coffee is getting more prevalent but NOT overpowering. This is remarkably better than last time, and in another month or so I will check in again - that is, if I don’t decide to light up another three after this one. Looking good @El Presidente! 5
