El Presidente Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 I am not sure this company is still around but they had a fair bit of press in their day. Did any of the old timers on here ever taste one? The marketing angle was that they were using pre embargo tobacco. The reviews were generally neutral to unkind. Pinar 1958 Serie B Rothschild A couple of weeks back we discussed an interesting question about a legal pre-embargo Cuban cigar. The cigar in question was, I believe, the Pinar P3000. Supposedly, this cigar was made completely of pre-embargo Cuban tobacco. Understandably we were skeptical. The embargo has been in place for 45 years, and we’re talking about an organic product that steadily degrades with time, even in ideal conditions. EdmundGTP Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Pretty sure I had a couple of these around 2004/2005. I knew very little about cigars, but don't remember anything remarkable about them, and they didn't seem worth the cost. I'd never had a Cuban, and was mostly smoking CAO Italia's at the time.
anacostiakat Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Heh. Yea. Knew a guy who swore by them. Refused to believe they were fugazzi. I think at the time I burnt one. It was ok but not something I wanted to buy. Heh
BrightonCorgi Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I remember these. After the big story and little delivery of the 50th Anniversary Partagas... I've been dubious since.
