El Presidente Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Monumumentares. Who can fill in the gaps on this cigar? 4
Popular Post NSXCIGAR Posted April 7, 2023 Popular Post Posted April 7, 2023 I believe the name is Monumentales. Box is somewhere between 1902-1930s. The address of Lealtad 564 appears not to exist anymore. Today it would be around Lealtad and Zanja near Chinatown. It appears the brand "La Simbombo" produced a cigar with the name Monumentales: This appears to be a La Simbombo box pretty much identical to the OP but the logos are visible. I would say the OP is in fact a La Simbombo Monumentales box with the logos on the top and inside lid sanded off. https://www.todocoleccion.net/coleccionismo-puros/antigua-caja-puros-madera-simbombo~x277849968 6
Puros Y Vino Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 I'm blown away by how nice of a box/humidor that is to sell 10 whole cigars. Nice find. 3

I think the box may be a bit smaller than it looks. I think it's about the size of a piece of paper (11 x 9) but it does seem a bit too deep for just 10 cigars. I wouldn't be suprised if there was some secondary packaging on these like coffins to fill it up. I can't find an image of any La Simbomba cigars nor does it appear any have ever come up for auction. Examples appear to be unusually rare although bands seem to be around. If the name and the presentation are any indication there's certainly a possibility these could have been some big boys like a Diademas like the Dunhill Punch Colosales: 4
