Popular Post MasterYotti Posted March 26, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 26, 2023 Pre Lighting Notes Aroma/Appearance: Fairly smooth but dense stick. There is not much oil on this wrapper, not sure if that is due to the dry-boxing I am trying as of late. There is a soft aroma of sweet butter and leather. When compressing the cigar, there is a sharper crinkle than usual and I again notice how densely packed this stick has been packaged. There is more sweetness and cedar on the foot. Cold Draw: The draw resistance is a tad tighter than I had hoped after dry-boxing, but I believe it will open up quite nicely. There is a light flavor of toasted tobacco. 1st Third From the first draw I am shocked at how thick the smoke is. A very pleasant nutty tobacco note takes the forefront. The aroma smells again of sweet cedar, only more pronounced as the cigar settles in. After I retrohale I am hit with the flavor of thick molasses. As the cigar rests between puffs, I continue to taste what I can only describe as toasted marshmallow on my tongue. Overall this cigar is starting off smoother than I remember. The ash is tinged with light tan and fairly messy, but holds on. As the first third comes to an end, I listen to the call of neighborhood birds and admire the calm pond scenery. Rating: 14/15 2nd Third The flavors seem to have transitioned to a calmer profile of what was tasted in the first third. I am picking up some bread crust every now and then. The cigar is slowly diminishing in sweetness and leveling off to an enjoyable toasted tobacco with musty spices. More earthiness and spices are present on each retrohale. The draw has definitely opened up throughout as I had hoped it would. Lastly, I end with some baking spices and a touch of nutmeg. Rating: 13/15 Final Third Upon reaching the final third, I have to touch up a small portion of the cigar. The ash is rather clumsy and fraying. The transition is non-existent so far. Darker, espresso notes are taking the lead as the cigar dwindles down. I feel as though there wasn’t much development after the second third. Rating: 13/15 Construction The cigar never needed relighting other than the touch-up mentioned. The ash could’ve been cleaner, but no true complaints. Rating: 4/5 Conclusion 44/50 = 88% I was glad to experience these after a bit more age. I can tell that these will become a favorite in due time. There isn’t much about this cigar that I didn’t like, but I still had higher hopes. Personally, I think it may have been this specific stogie and not a testament to the vitola as a whole. In any case, I still think these are outstanding cigars. 7 1
