El Presidente Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Original antique Michelin poster advertising bicycle tires - Enveloppe Velo Michelin - featuring a great design by Fabien Fabiano (1882-1962) depicting the Bibendum / Michelin Man character made out of white tires and smoking a cigar and wearing gold cufflinks on his cuffs and boots, standing behind a young lady in a blue dress holding up two tires, one tire scrunched up in her left hand to show its flexibility and the other solid round tire marked Michelin in her right hand to show the quality of the brand, set against a green background with the text above and below in bold lettering. 1
Tdm_86 Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Cool, it’s a Dutch ad for bicycle tires (rijwielbanden is an old Dutch word for bicycle tires). It depicts the creepy old style Michelin man, the stuff of nightmares:
asudevil08 Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 @El Presidente Most of these original posters hang on the walls within my corporate office - Discount Tire Company in Scottsdale, AZ. We probably have over 400+ of these posters and often give tours to Art students, kids in schools, etc. They're pretty cool. 2
