MoeFOH's Movie of the Week 🎥

Each week we're going to spotlight a movie... be it a classic, new release, hidden gem, or outright turd... and open it for discussion: i.e. post up your favourite quotes, clips, memories... or dive deeper and give us a critique on why you think it's great, overrated, or a complete train wreck... And finally score it for us... :looking:

All contributors go into a monthly prize draw for a 3-cigar sampler! :cigar:

PM me with suggestions if there's a movie you want to nominate for next week's discussion.

Week #42: Nacho Libre

Moe says: A wonderfully strange concoction. Contains everything that makes Jack Black brilliant & lovable, visually stunning, unique directorial style, yet it feels like it somehow misses the mark and you cannot put your finger on why... maybe by virtue of the fact it's not so formulaic... 🤔 Anyhow, a 7.5/10 for me.

Nacho Libre is a 2006 sports comedy film directed by Jared Hess and written by Jared and Jerusha Hess and Mike White. It stars Jack Black as Ignacio, a Catholic friar and lucha libre fan who secretly moonlights as a luchador to earn money for the orphanage where he works. The film is loosely based on the story of Fray Tormenta ("Friar Storm", a.k.a. Rev. Sergio Gutiérrez Benítez), a real-life Mexican Catholic priest who had a 23-year career as a masked luchador to support the orphanage he directed.[not verified in body] The film was produced by Black, White, David Klawans and Julia Pistor.

The film was released on June 16, 2006, by Paramount Pictures. It received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $99.3 million at the worldwide box office against its $35 million production budget.

Over to you!

How do you rate it out of 10? :perfect10:

Post up favourite clips, quotes, etc...

Fun quirky movie that provides some laughs and life lessons. Can't go wrong with anything Jack Black. Rating: 6/10

“They may have the appearance of riches, but beneath the clothes, we find a man. And beneath the man, we find, his… nucleus.” – Nacho Libre

Not Nacho Libre related, but here's a link to a wild music video he Jack did with Dave Grohl.

I can't say I like it but I can't turn it off when I run across it.  Jack Black just has that effect. 6/10
