Trinidad Coloniales APU JUL 14 (TRW)

I don’t want to jump on the “woe be prices” bandwagon so I will only say that I love Trinidad cigars but I don’t really buy them anymore.  
 

I find that my Reyes need a LOT of time but somehow the Coloniales shine at 5-8 years.  This box has been stellar for the last couple of years.  

Ain’t she pretty.  It’s just a super looking cigar. When I bought these, in 2016 or so, there had been a price increase and I recalled having a conversation about paying a lot for them.  By 2018, the only Coronas (or size adjacent) were the Monte 3 and Quai Corona.  

The flavor is subtle and refined.  Incredible draw and some baking spice.  It’s just perfectly refined.  No vegetality.  I love this cigar.

 

As much as I want this to be a commercial for this cigar, it’s equally a commercial for a great Costco scotch.  Second half has some fruit.  But it’s really classic Cuban refinement with a bit of funk.  I love it.

I always wanted to try the coloniales, but every time I almost bought a box something else came up that I wanted more. Sounds delicious!

Yes - the cigar was superb.  But the overall quality/ value of the Kirkland Islay blew me away.  We weren’t just saying “well, it’s pretty good for the price.”  It was just “very good! - no hedge needed.”
