Actually, the barcode strips are sligthly different. Look at them carefully. Not saying they are legitimate but none of the barcodes are exactly the same
El Presidente Posted October 11, 2022 Author Posted October 11, 2022 Now all three boxes with the same parallel bars have a few things in common: 1. They have smaller bars than a normal code. 2. They have a larger font than a normal code.

El Presidente Posted October 11, 2022 Author Posted October 11, 2022 So guess what they do have in common?
El Presidente Posted October 11, 2022 Author Posted October 11, 2022 So what can we intelligently extrude from this little bit of information?
El Presidente Posted October 11, 2022 Author Posted October 11, 2022 I think it is widely accepted that 9999 9999 9999 9999 is the default microprining number. Could it be extrapolated that the parallel bar pattern / size / number font above are also the default print?

If the above is feasible then is it possible that some bar code/serial number font anomalies are a case of programmer error? Do they work to templates and push template 4 as opposed to 3? How manual is the process?

El Presidente Posted October 11, 2022 Author Posted October 11, 2022 . SIglo II 2019 starting with 53?

NSXCIGAR Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 There are a lot of anomalies here. Whether or not that means fake is another issue. Spacing issues in the barcode/warranty area. The bars are identical despite different serials. Serial font is flawed. Some are lighter/finer, some bolder, some digits have print errors. The serials are chronologically off by production period. With the UV seal being correct I would say the likelihood of these being genuine goes up, however there are too many anomalies for me to feel comfortable with them.

Remarkably, 100% genuine. What intrigues me is the process where they kick a production run over. Who can explain the process from creation to application?

Who can explain the process from creation to application? You are seriously asking about processes from a company that is the cigar manufacturer equivalent of the Keystone Cops? 1 1

I mean, it is not the first time a retailer has been questioned because the font on the barcode was "off" .....you can now throw that one out the window
traveller Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 The bar codes aren't identical, they're close but not identical

Process, god only knows. Why the 999999999, why the font differences, bar codes, spacing, broken digits...they must have found a new manufacturer of these stickers and they're blowing it. In this climate they're going to have to rectify this ASAFP. Right now we only have the UV seal to rely on for authenticity and that won't last long. For the serial sequence it appears to just run linearly. You have to make note of the date at the time of the serial as a marker but it has been consistent for 12 years. 2011-2013: 00001 2014: 000021-000026 2015: 000027-000029 2016: 000031-000036 2017: 000037-000039 2018: 00004 2019: 000044-000047 2020: 000047-000050 2021: 000050-000053 2022: 000053-000056 2023: 000056-000059 2024: 000059- 3
Fugu Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 First, as others have said, barcode bar pattern is different. Newer codes on 2019-production is basically possible if a box had been held in stock for longer in Cuba. We have seen such before, e.g. newer seals placed over the old non-hologram ones during the transition period in 2009. Or older stock that had been held back and put on the market later. So, this doesn’t rule out completely it’s legit still. Seals on the Exquisitos are very clearly not as supposed to be. Apart from the default wildcard numbering in the microprint there’s more. I would clearly reject those (at least). 6 hours ago, El Presidente said: Remarkably, 100% genuine. Who / what is telling you these are legit, Rob? Pics aren’t the best, but I’d very much doubt it without going too much out on a limb. I mean if these are supposed to be “warranting” anything, then we can forget about the Cuba-seal altogether from here on....

I would lay a lazy $100 that the size of the bar code and the numbers font is the same on all 9999 afflicted boxes. It is something that we will compare going forward. The Exquisitos came in from PCC over the past 2 weeks. The Siglo II a few weeks prior to that. The cigars are perfect. I have never seen this many 9999 affected boxes. It was only a few months back that a mastercase of CORO all with 9999. You get a sense that it is all continuing to fall apart. 1 3 1
