El Presidente Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Some interesting results So the questions were: Q1 What cigar marque has delivered the most 94 + point experiences in your Cuban cigar smoking history? The Top 3: Cohiba 47% Partagas 15% Trinidad 11% Q2 What specific cigar has delivered the most 94 + point experiences in your Cuban cigar smoking history?. The Top 3: H. Upmann Sir Winston 9% Cohiba Piramide Extra 7% Partagas Lusitania 7% Back of envelope analysis? I didn't expect Cohiba to romp away with this one. Do well....absolutely. Romp away.....not really. While the Upmann Sir Winston did exceptionally well in Q2, Upmann as a Marque achieved only 5% on Question 1. Well, that was better than Montecristo but only a bees proverbial ahead of Bolivar. Question two results show how it really is a case of different strokes for different folks. Vive la différence! 3

With you on this one. Polls such like this are reflecting to great part expectations. Done blind (if it were possible) - different kettle of fish! 1

Chas.Alpha Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 I will reach out to members about the Lusis. The last box scared me off for a bit...😳 1

That's what makes the result so intriguing. Sure. But the sheer expectation may have influenced the outcome: If you pay for an exceptional experience (read “ultra-premium“ smoke), you want it to be exceptional, and it “will be” exceptional. A well known psychological phenomenon. As you say, the result appears unexpected. At least in its extent and absoluteness. Not being backed by blind tastings and certainly not from my own personal “non-blind” experience. 😉
