Popular Post JohnS Posted March 11, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 11, 2022 Hi everyone, Last week on FoH Zoom I caught up with @Bijan and @Chas.Alpha and we discussed a few Beatles' songs and how to play them on Acoustic Guitar. I made the following video this morning and I think it's a good guide as to how the song was played by Sir Paul. I didn't upload it to YouTube because it would be removed due to copyright reasons. I hope you can learn from it! Blackbird.mp4 4 1
Chas.Alpha Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Rats! Video won’t open on my browser. 😢 As we discussed, Sir Paul always leads with the low strings! I’ll figure this out from my end... In the mean time, there’s got to be a way to form a band on 6 continents? 😳 Thanks John! 🥇 1
rckymtn22 Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Opens for me in Firefox, just takes a bit. Well done John! 1

They're pretty lenient on covering songs vs having original recordings of songs. If still worried you can update as semi-private which is only accessible via a direct link. 1

I did some bass covers of some songs around seven years ago on the White Album on YouTube (Back in the USSR, Birthday and Helter Skelter) which generated quite a bit of interest but they were taken down soon after for copyright reasons. If I was serious about showing others how these songs were played I would utilise better video/audio recording equipment I suppose and yes, it would generate a heap of interest (as well as the incidental critical remark no doubt from people unwilling to invest the time to actually learn how to play these songs!) but honestly, it's not something I want to seriously pursue right now. I'm just happy to follow-up from the conversation we had with Chas last week! 😉 1

Yes I forgot these were Beatles songs. Probably the most likely musical copyright to be enforced. Anyways I meant it more as a way to use YouTube to embed the videos on FOH (without making them visible more broadly). I'm sure some other services would work just as well. 1
Chas.Alpha Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 I have to re-tool my fingers! I've played this wrong for so many years! Thanks John!!! 1
Islandboy Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Argh...can’t get the video to play on my Mac. I’d love to see this, anyone have a suggestion? 1

I’d need to get used to the quick chord changes, but as is typical of Paul’s acoustic guitar work, there’s a great rhythm to those changes. 1
