Born and raised in Cincinnati.  Up until the mid 80's Cincy had a huge manufacturing base.  Cincy had a significant German population in the 19th and early 20th centuries.  With the German high standards in manufacturing Cincinnati was a major center for producing quality steel/metal products.

Born and raised in Columbus here, so it should go without saying that you are commended for the spectacular username, Go Bucks!!!

It's a shame most of the WW2 generation is gone because both my grandfather and his brother in law were big cigar guys and my great aunt even rolled cigars for a time here in Ohio (somewhere). SO much change has occurred since that time period alone.

I was lucky enough to share a cigar with my grandfather on my 18th birthday but it was really more of a customary/rite of passage thing. I didn't truly get in to cigars until decades after he passed & I would just love to have had discussed pre-embargo cigars with him...

Cleveland used to be the center for cigar manufacturing in the US before Tampa became so. One of the arcades(of the shopping variety) in the downtown Cleveland has a cigar stand that was built into the stair case that looks to be at least a 100 years old. I have a picture some where.
