Popular Post bishop532 Posted December 13, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 13, 2021 I got lucky and snagged a box of Por Larranaga Panetelas after they were discontinued. I’ve been slow to smoke them, as I do enjoy this particular cheapie and I know I probably won’t see it again once this box is gone. That said, I decided to smoke one this morning to start my day off right. These are really good quality as it goes, with nice milk chocolate wrappers that smell like cedar and tobacco. Construction is solid, with just a tiny bit of give. On a cold December morning, one of these’ll do me just right. Cold draw maintains the same direction as the smell off the foot - cedar and tobacco. When I light it up, I get much of the same at first. A tiny hint of something sweet on top. It’s simple but tasty. The second half kicks off with a bang as I get a nice chocolate note. The cedar remains. I doubt these will ever get to the point where a PLPC or PLMC will end up, but I’m excited to see what develops when these have 2 or 3 more years on them. I’m sure this chocolate note will become caramel with a little more time. One small touch up near the end, but otherwise the burn was good. Very few things that cost me under $3 can give me this much enjoyment. As I said above, it’s pretty simple but this early in the morning it is just what I’m looking for. I really wish Habanos would stop cutting out these smaller gauge cigars. Total Smoking Time: 46 minutes Score: 89/100 8
Cairo Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Good review. I stocked up on these when they were available. I have a 2017 box I am working on--only had one with the caramel taste I was hoping for...but with these you never know--the next one could be a winner. 2
bishop532 Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 Thanks - That caramel might be there in another year or two. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!
Juliano88 Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Nice review. Wish they would bring back the PL Lonsdales. 2
