If you like eggnog, try making a batch of Alton Brown's eggnog.

Alton Brown's aged eggnog

Aged eggnog sounds unconventional to most, but it should be a familiar concept to the members here.

I've had it fresh and also aged up to 1 year, they had their own traits but both were outstanding.  This recipe has bourbon, rum, and cognac.

It helps to have a microplane to grate whole nutmeg.

My dad likes whiskey with eggnog. I also know people who take brandy in it. Not sure I’d mix that with the rum, personally - just something different to try.

Any brandy recommendations?  I really only know of the cheap stuff like E&J and paul masson.  I'm a big fan of rum and smith and cross has a strong rum funk that's delicious and imparted a nice flavor into the eggnog

Interesting, ageing milk and cream has always sounded like a bad idea to me lol.  But hm once the stores stop selling the premade stuff, I might have to give it a whirl!

Honestly I’ve only really tried the same ones too. Beyond the two you mentioned, I’ve also tried (and really enjoy) Kruskovac, which is a pear brandy from the Balkans. That said, I have not tried that one with Eggnog.
